These boards at midlength cary speed, but turn drawn out, mine shined at head high, but I would not pick this one has a groveler. I had a blast on this when the waves were lined up, but overall the range was pretty limited, so I got rid of it. The Vesper is something that has a better low range and performs in larger surf better as well, FYI.
+1 my experience on a stock 6'6 moonie

@chilly1 - Great info. Thank you! What size is your vesper?

Interesting, as I find my Lightbender (carbon Varial) is far better low-end, like really good, my twinsman has no release in shapeles waves. Twinsman probably one of the best boards Ive had tho, but in the conditions its suited for fun-good waves with more vertical shape.
fwiw mine was pu/pe and heavy under arm. lots of swing weight. I had a blast in ch-hh, but the plasmic was so much more predictable for me in a waist to hh range and so overlap said the lightbender goes and Varial plasmic and twinsman stayed.

id be tempted by a lightbender in Varial.

Dark Arts.

My Plasmic is a DA. Had one in PU. They are not the same. DA is far far better for the design.

Im sure this was covered but how are the Bom Día guys sizing them - dims and volume - compared to HPSB?
5’9 190ish
Hpsb Stamps Blindspot 6’ 19.75 x 2.65 33.5L poly.
Eps 6’0 GX 35L
5’6 plasmi
Bom Dia. 5’9 19.88 x 2.6 34.5 L dark arts. Love this board but feels smaller than it is. If I could do again I would add an inch or two and keep the rest the same.

I had a varial 5’10 20 x 2.6 35.5L but that board was really heavy. It surfed well though just a lot of swing weight in less than good surf

I'm 6'3" and like 190 right now.

A normal HPSB for me would be like 6'3"-6'4" x 19 1/2" x 2 5/8" 32-33L

Bomdia is Varial 6-1 x 19 1/4" x 2 9/16"

Not sure about volume. Guessing like 33-34L

Feels pretty perfect for what I got it for which is basically a HPSB replacement. I was nervous to go as short and narrow as I did but I don't regret it. It's got plenty of width up front and carries a lot of foam into the beak so I could see it being over foamed if one went too wide or thick. At the same time I'd be curious to try one with more volume like a stock 6-2 or 6-3.

My 6-1 paddles and catches waves better than a normal 6'3" thruster and has more built in drive. Fast and stable but it still rolls rail to rail easily. Rocker feels like it works in everything as long as there is some push. Good in tubes. Good in flat faced point waves. One of my all time favorite boards.

I’m vacillating between a 6’1 and a 6’2 in basically stock dims…..

I’m 6’2 - 195 pounds and mostly would be wearing a full suit.

Last normal shortboard I had was a stock 6’3 Fever.

I have a stock 6’3 Varial Ghost and it feels right.

What fins are you using?

Ive been running Sharpeye L fronts, NVS JL medium 80/20 quad rears.

I liked the am2 techflex set as well but the above combo is a little more pivotal.

I figured I would get the Bomdia set but never got around to it.

Been meaning to post in this thread to update my previous experience with Album Australia.

Not too long ago a rep reached out to me from Album and I gave him my feedback and went through the issues I had the last time. He didn't seem surprised and assured me they had made some changes to customer service locally which I won't go into. They offered to make it up to me by reshaping me a board with the correct dimensions. As I had sold the previous one they offered to do one at cost. The guy was super nice and I would feel comfortable doing business with them again. Figured its good to point that out here as I had posted my negative experience previously.

No , no one has ever claimed that as far as I know. He's probably referring to the few people that continually post about how he doesn't deserve his success despite many people liking his boards, hence the thread.

Rather than posting that here, it would make more sense to post that you like Xanadu way more than album on the xanadu thread. Or hell, create a bash album thread so the few of you can talk as much crap as you want about Matt P. Sounds like a good idea to me. Yet, here we are again clogging a thread where people share experiences with a certain brand, yet people just can't he;p themselves.

Yeah we get it. Actually we got it a long time ago, and we still get to hear about it.

Yaaay!

that’s the type of response I’d expect in an Album thread lol.

is this where you try to convince me an art student from orange makes better boards than one of the most talented shapers of our time? And that the hundreds of dollars more he charges are worth it because they come in spiffy colors?
The boards are expensive, and I haven't really looked at price tags on off the rack boards much lately, but I usually pay about 950 custom with no color, unless I've gone Variel, that's been more. How much is a Xanadu?

No. I figured that you had an Album or two and didn’t like it and that Xanadu had better alternatives based on your experience.

I apologize for assuming that you actually had experience with Album boards.

I should have known better.

I haven’t ridden any Xanadu boards so I can’t really comment on them. I thought maybe you could provide some sort or insightful comparison between some Album design and some Xanadu design but instead you’re just talking out of your ass bashing a brand you have no experience with.

Seems to be a pattern with you, sh!t talking things you know nothing about.

You are a deeply insecure person who is consistently making feeble attempts to feel better by trying bring everyone and everything down to your pathetic level.

You’d be, we would all be, better served if you took steps to improve upon whatever it is that’s lacking in your sh!t life rather than sharing with us your pathetic view from bottom of the psychic pit you live in.
