Moonstone is a step-up Sunstone .What about the moonstone? Anyone know the low end compared to the other albums?
Depends how you size the dims but has a large range. I used mine as a 1 board quiver for most of last year. Mines a bit squashed down with more width. I have dedicated stubby micro grovelers that can grovel better, but I've used it from 2'-10' and works well most days. A good dd to keep in the vehicle. Wasn't a fan of the Sunstone I had. Liked a couple of Townsends. Moonstone does a better job low end than those while Townsend more stable/controlled in larger surfWhat about the moonstone? plasmic, no question.
I was using the NVS Nautilus fins and had a similar experience. For me it was about back foot placement. If my back foot was behind the fins i had zero drive. If my foot was centered over the fins plenty of drive. It was hard for me to find the sweet spot some daysIs everyone running the Apex twins or similarly upright fins in their Twinsman? I yolo'd one of the last Varial cabrons. I like the construction and I'm used to boards with a decent amount of tail rocker, so the board feels/looks like it should work. Album recommends the Apex twins and I already had a pair so I've been giving them a go. But the board feels like it has no drive with those fins...especially when the surf is shoulder high or below. Anyone have a similar experience and find a solution?
I have a Fascination for small(er) surf. It's the standard asym tail (not the bat) and it goes very, very well in anything from waist to shoulder, maybe head high. It could gravel if I really needed it to, but Plasmic does a better job at that.I have a Vesper and really love it - thinking about another Album, for smaller stuff, but still want to keep it performancey... Kind of interested in going asym. Would you guys advise against a Fascination asym or you're really favorable towards the plasmic ?

I’ve heard this a lot and kind of experienced the same-ish.I ended up preferring these twins the most in my Twinsman and didn't really care for the Apex twins.

I had similar problems as the others here. It often felt sluggish and was hit or miss, which may have been a result of sensitivity to foot placement; I never paid it all that much thought.
Things may have changed if I had dialed it in, but I never got that far. I tried one twice, and it always ended up selling pretty quickly.
For me, there are just much better high-performance twins out there.
I’ve never tried the NVS fins, but I use the Shapers Album uprights and IMO they have been a perfect fit from day 1. Like Duffy, I really only use TMST in decent surf for SD (chest high to head) and I haven’t any issues with drive. I suspect SDDan may have a point about foot placement. I’m usually driving with my front foot and on turns my back foot is probably just over the fins if not ever so slightly ahead of fins- but never behind. It felt intuitive right away for me but it certainly seems not to click for many.Is everyone running the Apex twins or similarly upright fins in their Twinsman? Can't go wrong with Plasmic, if you're interested in asym, he can make that, I think Oestee has one. Sounds like an unreal comboI have a Vesper and really love it - thinking about another Album, for smaller stuff, but still want to keep it performancey... Kind of interested in going asym. I'm thinking Fascination asym ... or fuggetabout the asym and just get a plasmic ?
These boards at midlength cary speed, but turn drawn out, mine shined at head high, but I would not pick this one has a groveler. I had a blast on this when the waves were lined up, but overall the range was pretty limited, so I got rid of it. The Vesper is something that has a better low range and performs in larger surf better as well, FYI.What about the moonstone? Anyone know the low end compared to the other albums?
Interesting, as I find my Lightbender (carbon Varial) is far better low-end, like really good, my twinsman has no release in shapeles waves. Twinsman probably one of the best boards Ive had tho, but in the conditions its suited for fun-good waves with more vertical shape.Twinsman vs Lightbender:
I didn’t think my stock 5’7 bender was much better on the low end than my 5’8 Twinsman. I sold it and kept the Twinsman.
Moonstone for gravel:
while it can go into smaller stuff I don’t think it’s more fun than say a plasmic. as duffy said, I think it fits as more of a step up that works as an all arounder. mine is wider and thinner than stink, too.
