hhhmmm......you see the odd one- but there are a helluva lot of really good alt shapers around here with existing market share - so I'd say it hasn't blown up like California.
The only place it's blown up is on this forum.

I surf a lot of different spots from here through OC and I rarely see one IRL.

I was told a pretty interesting story - prior to COVID when Album wasn't even well known there were very large quantities of Albums with very involved resinwork suddenly being produced at Lights Out and shapers took notice - nobody had ever heard of the guy, or seen his boards, and all of the sudden there's big orders being pumped out and where were the boards going?

He had a very large showroom on the main drag in San Clemente before his popularity as well. Not cheap.

Mormons helping Mormons maybe? It was like a boy band approach to the surfboard business.

100% . He's killing the rich old guy game of 30-60 year olds with cush jobs. Not the youngins from what I see
Not quite sure he’s killing it (in my skewed LA perception), but is probably getting some decent coin from Album and Florence and has an interesting day job that I wouldn’t believe pays too much. I’m in his demographic, but I lean a lil’ more performancy for I how I want to surf and what I’m looking at goods-wise. Margo was always someone who’s sarfing I liked, but he’s a year younger than me and I preferred watching Kelly and Taylor.

Because they're very likely there for a paycheck (like plenty of other pros throughout various labels).

Every one of those guys, including Margo, surf better on standard 3 fin thrusters.
Not A.Pacey or V. Bernardo...would rather watch them surf fishys...as a thruster shortboarder Asher was boring to watch imo.. Bernardoo the same...

You don’t see many of them so they aren’t selling?

I almost never see a FireWire or Mayhem or DHD or Roberts or Stretch. I guess those don’t sell either.

I didn't say they're not selling.

Generally speaking major producers tend to have a local sphere of influence.

I think I surf a wide enough geographic range and number of spots in what would be Album's sphere of influence to get a decent idea of what's in the water.

It's something I tend to pay attention.

A bunch of them showed up in local waters here the past couple years. Not nearly to the level of Mayhems or CIs or something like that, but that's not the Album business model anyway.

Mostly see them in the northern part of LA county, but ET just started stocking them in the south bay too.

The recent Album edit w NS footage - those boards look like hot garbage… I love Margo’s surging but his nursed turns etc awful. Surprised they released that. After analyzing that footage you’d think they’d rethink those boards for those conditions/adjust the designs
