Ok, it seemed really odd that you need to select preset dims from the drop down menu. The way its setup on the site gives that impression. All my albums have been through xtr, so just checking I wasn't crazy. Good to know you can specify custom dims on a custom order :D
Yeah, agree it’s confusing. I’ve always emailed Matt first to dial in the dims. Once we get them dialed in, he tells me to just write them in the “notes” box at the bottom of the form. Then he emails again once the order form is submitted to confirm everything.

I’ve done the same. Added extra width to a Townsend.

I also got a twinsman from him and all that was said as far as dims go was “5’11ish”. Never discussed anything else besides my height, weight, age, shoe size, ability and waves ridden. I‘ve never bothered to measure the board. No dims written on it.

Was never charged extra.

Has anyone lurking here tried a Bom Dia fish? Wondering if it’s got similar feels to a Bom Dia (rocker, foam distribution etc) or it’s a lightbender with an asym tail

No. I’ve used the standard custom link and changed the dims on pretty much every boar I’ve ordered through him.

I think you only need to use the unlimited if you’re really tweaking things, i.e. ordering a pointy nose Disorder, etc. Something that will make the boar much different than the stock outline.
Same. I’ve gone back n forth with Matt on dims.

Wouldn’t it be more like (the asym) Fascination fish with bom día quad placements? I dunno.
Vesper día seems pretty similar… plus Plasmic channel. I believe the heel side quad rear is not as far in (towards stringer) as the bom día- due to the magic channel. Kinda odd-looking Frankenstein outline. Pretty versatile and damn fun.

Wait there’s a Vesper Dia too??

Anyone ridden or felt up any The End models? Only really seen footage of Jack riding smaller versions. There are some midlength versions in the used section that look interesting. Curious how they would compare to something like the Townsend.

The swallowtail could be interesting. There’s footage of Asher on a bigger one at maybe bells from a few months ago.

It's a 6'2". Looks bigger than that but still looks fun. I guess if it didn't have a rounded off nose it'd probably be a 6'4-6'6 or so.

The 6'9" double ender one is a Jack reject I think. 21 inches is kind of wild but I'm still curious how it'd ride.

Hey, they are fun boards, really fast, and because of their speed, they have a cool glide. They have very low rockers, so they will catch waves easily. You will definitely shoot you down the wave in bigger surf. Sometimes, I can feel the flatness when pushing sharper turns. They are the fastest boards that I own. It is an Album model that I really like.

I have three sizes: 6' 8", 6' 0", and 5' 6". I recommend the 6' 0" to get the most of out the model. The 6' 8" can be too fast, learned not to take it in too big of a surf. For example, the 6' 10" Plasmid had a lot of hold and could handle large waves. It never works out well for me taking the 6' 8" in similar conditions.

However, the 6' 0" can work in smaller and bigger surf. It is good for more drawn-out turns but can be pushed for sharper turns in smaller waves.

Mine is 6'0"x 19.75"x 2.5"; I kind of wish it was narrower. I can see why Asher may like the swallowtail for some hold.

I also have 5' 6", which is like chunky mini-simmons, a fish alternative. I like it a lot and grabbed a bunch for smaller waves, and it can handle some size.

I feel the beauty of this board is in the 6' 0" range!

Obviously, they're all kinda trippy, but the big ones really trip me out. That and the pricing. Once you're in the 8'0 range, everyones boards tend to tick upward, so seeing the prices on these feels less shocking somehow compared to similar prices for boards in the 5-6' range.

$1k 7'4 Insanity in DA

$950 8'0" Ledge Mod Looks wide in the hips for its intended purpose, but it might just be the pic.

$1100 Townsend Twin Pin

Thanks for this. What tail shapes did you get on yours?

They do look pretty flat. Not sure if that's what I'm after. Plasmid already has a pretty limited top end IMO.

I think the one Asher was riding at Bells, the 6-2, is a round tail double ender.

I dunno. Looks a little funky to me. The way the nose sticks out of the water is weird. What's the point of that rounded nose if it looks like an ice cream scoop driving down the line? In pictures, though, I think the end looks like a really nice template, both as a smaller disk and a mid-length. Never seen one in person, so I can't really comment. Everything on the album site now confuses the crap out of me. It's all weird (in a not-so-good way) alt boards for what seems like big-ass middle-aged dudes. Maybe I'm dense, but WHO ON EARTH is this board made for?

I hate to say it about them, but I have to agree with the bolded above. Has Album jumped the shark? Too many models and variations on models now. Strange designs and design elements. They’ve even had Victor riding these massively oversized boars on their IG lately. Nobody wants to see that (at least I wouldn’t think they do).

Some interesting experiments to try there- but not at those prices. The insanity twin in DA could be a fun crowdkiller but pretty banged up. I find that rocker to be versatile.

Generally agree that there’s a lot of tweaking of existing models but the used section is a lot of prototypes and Matt’s experiments from what I understand. The Delma model has a funky tail IMO (some almost look like a thumb) but sounds like it was a variation of the vesper for Margo, as he apparently doesn’t like twins. I think they claim it’s better in bigger waves. You know I love that plasmic channel, so I can imagine that + the quads is fast AF and yet gives it a lot of hold through turns.

Yeah that Asher video is the one I was thinking of with the End doubleender. Didn’t look great at bigger length to me.The end doesn’t appeal to me unless it’s really short- and I can’t paddle as short as I’d want it to be anymore.

@Aruka just get a RP stap bom dia already!

Agree. But then again why do I feel compelled to buy this thing…..?
