Heading to SB staying at the SB Hilton. Going to carouse State Street and head to Brophy's for some grinds then over to Ledbetter to pound beers.

You'll dig State Street, they've blocked off 5 or 6 blocks starting at Haley and it's like a prominade. All the bars and restaurants have outdoor dining in the street, lots of live music. Be warned though, it is very crowded, hopefully, Gavin won't shut it down before the weekend.

From governor today

"We'll be making some additional announcements on efforts to use the 'dimmer switch' and begin to toggle back on our stay-at-home order and tighten things up,” he said."

Thanks for the heads-up! I was actually just trolling Duffy. I recon State Street will be even worse than the Newport/Balboa peninsula where I'm hole up. Safe and sane! I'll be driving out of newport and trespass hiking somewhere. :shaka:

I've been to Broph's once since they reopened. Felt like getting into a club. You get a reservation/buzzer at the foot of the main steps where the hostess stand blocks the entrance like a security gate. The back stairway is the exit, no going up there, and when they call, you gotta wear a mask as they escort you to your seat. 9 bar seats total in groups of 3, a handful of tables inside and out, and no standing in the window at the bar. It's so spread out it feels empty when it's full if you've ever been there. Brophy Bros labeled hand sanitizer bottles spread out through the restaurant.

I usually do the Huntington Beach 4th of July extravaganza. Locals' 5K run at 7 a.m from HB High School down Main to north on PCH, then reverse course ; stick around for a bit of the Parade up Main Street; go home and start Day Drinking to the background of the Twilight Zone Marathon and some kinda decent food; get on the bike and go back Downtown for revelry and huge firework display off the Pier at sundown. All that sh!t is cancelled now, except for the Day Drinking and decent food. I'll probably ride the bike up downtown to see the scene at some point.

I've checked it out, from a distance. State is a clusterfuck.

The restaurants have taken the sidewalk and parking for dining. They have closed it to car traffic. Folks are walking down the center of the "pavilion " shoulder to shoulder, half with masks, half without.

Upper state and all the rest of the town is quiet. Waterfront is a shitshow as well.

Corona swims North from LA to spawn on the wharf.

I haven't eaten out since this whole thing started. They can spread the tables all they want, but if the dishwasher coughs on the plates or silverware, or a cook on the food.

Enjoy some river time in the warmth. BBQ some grinds, drink some fresh beers. Watch the local firework display where they attempt to burn down the butte. Pray for no fires that may burn down the neighborhood. Be grateful for everything.
