10 U.S. Code § 252 - Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority
Sec. 332. Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

It's never ceases to amaze me that the very same people who believe this:

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. "

Are always the same ones who say "send in the tanks" when civil rights protests happen.

Alter, yes. Not abolish or overthrow. Seems like everything is extremes with you. You seem to enjoy escalation more than rational discourse.

Do you live by the words above in the Declaration of Independence? If so, why send in the tanks? Maybe you do not believe in the principles in the Declaration of Independence.

Trumps moves in Portland are legal, but ill-considered. He should have done the same thing in Portland that he did in Seattle.

Just extended the perimeter by 100ft to keep the militants off the buildings and then run a half dozen live feeds of the action that the press wouldn't be able to gaslight. Run the compound from a defensive position and allow entry to anyone who has legitimate business there.

Then Trump could sit back and heckle the Mayor and Governor on the daily basis for being impotent and incapable of maintaining order. That way it's THEIR fault when they are finally compelled to walk back their own malfeasance.

Well for starters, they're not obviously "troops" so everyone who has been saying that has been engaging in a lie. As for the extent to which the feds are documenting their actions that has yet to be seen.

There will be FOIA requests, there will be lawsuits and there presumably will be some criminal prosecutions. I can't hardly wait.

"Military style dress" doesn't make a cop a member of the U.S. Armed Services nor does it make them subject to the UCMJ or a part of the military's chain of command .

Uniforms and equipment are just stuff. Parts is parts.

then the next anty up move is for the blue state governors to call up their state national guard to battle the feds
then it's state force versus trump cronies. He wants war, then lets have war and some get real shooting, bombing and associated deaths in the streets like the other banana republics he's trying to turn our country into. Lebanon, Iraq, Africa here we come

Eventually the US military will have to intercede and arbitrate this mess
They've already distanced themselves from DHS/Marshall cronies Trump's manipulating via his surrogates

have the state national guard "escort" these unwanted "rogue" forces out of state lines and take over crowd control which they are much better trained to manage.
Unless its a federal highway the roads of travel are city and state owned so travel and residency of trumps cronies can be centered around federal facilities and federal ways of travel.No way in and no way out from the interstates.
Once they venture onto city and state jurisdiction they can be arrested and detained.
Just escalate this thing and start doing exactly what they are doing with appropriately armed forces

All bravado no follow through on everything his whole life.
Old timers called them "bullshtters", "politicians" is a more modern term.

Just make sure to keep all the BS in-fighting to the continent where it belongs.
