    *** Official 2024 Community Surf Journal ***

We probably did cross paths at some point. I think I paddled out at 12 just south of Lawton but immediately got pulled north, at least to Kirkham. Then I paddled all the way south to Noriega just to get out of the rip of death, which was A LOT of fun. I caught a few waves in that zone but...

    *** Official Backpacking Thread ***

I wish the lone peaks had the vibram megagrips. Megagrip is SO MUCH BETTER than their sole compound. The timp is a nice shoe with megagrip. It's not quite as wide in the toebox as the lone peak though.

Topo makes nice shoes, but they gave me blisters. You should give the altra's a try a again. Will be so much lighter than any pair of hiking boots. Definitely a bad pair. I've probably had 10 pairs of altras over the years and never had an issue. I always put at least 40 - 50 miles on a shoe...

    *** Official Backpacking Thread ***

This setup cannot be beat. I've never had a pair of lone peaks blow out, but I would say they're only good for 200ish miles. Treads will last longer but they really loose their spring after 200 miles.

Chronic Leg Cramps - fastest rehab?

There's a lot of fine advice in this thread, which you should follow, but you might also want to get it checked out if this has suddenly started to occur. I've always gotten various cramps from overuse and dehydration over the years, but last year, there was one spot in my right leg where it...

    Puerto Padi

Interesting. I would be a little bit surprised by this but I could be wrong.

    Puerto Padi

My guess is the Mini Padi would do better there than the Puerto Padi but I haven't seen or ridden the Mini Padi. I can say for sure that the Puerto Padi is about as extreme a gun as I think you can find. I mean, just look at the waves Nathan rides his in. I only ride mine at OB when it's ~10+...

    The Official OBSF Support Group

The rotation thing works when you know the crowd, it's light enough to keep track, or you're at a point break where it's pretty obvious. How do you do that when 20+ people sit on a shifty beach break peak? I don't back-paddle people intentionally, though many people do here if you don't move...

    The Official OBSF Support Group

I was in the same camp yesterday and I only surfed fri, sat, and sun. Thanks to a new job recently I’m in much worse shape this year vs. this time last year. Boy does it make a difference. Yesterday afternoon looked sweet and last year, I would have been able to double dip no problem. But...

Second review of this quiver. I got the 6'1 2.pro in the water this morning, and damn, this thing RIPS. I had a used 6'0 2.pro in the right dims that looked amazing, but it was EPS/Exoxy, and I never really clicked with it. I love the look of the board, though, so I wanted to give it another...

You'd probably love it. I know there are some equally impressive beach brakes out there, but there's nothing quite like seeing a big set stack up on the outer bars and unload. It's truly one of the most exhilarating and beautiful things to me. Never gets old. I know on videos it looks flat and...

Felt like the season opener today. Nice to see waves stack up outer bars style. Didn't see a ton of people catching waves. Got a handful. Some were sleigh rides but some were pretty fun.

I am probably most excited about that board. It feels insane under the arm; it's going to be a total rocket. The 6'0 Two Happy, with its round tail and a bump of 1/8 in thickness, also feels money. It pushed the volume from 30.5L to 31.1L without any noticeable difference in rail volume. Stoked...

SharpEye Inferno 72 for S. Cal beachies?

The cheat code is a true groveler with some ripping capabilities built in. It feels like a shortboard but has enough low-end range to work in soft, waist-high waves. Twin-turbo is a high-performance twin through and through. It would probably work in waves under waist-high, but I wouldn't grab...

SharpEye Inferno 72 for S. Cal beachies?

Great summarization. I couldn't agree more. They require a bit more input than some shortboards out there, but you're rewarded with an awesome experience. My Sharpeye quiver is 5'8 Cheat Code, 5'9 Twin Turbo, 6'0 HT2, and 6'1 Synergy. If I wanted to or needed to, this could easily be a complete...

SharpEye Inferno 72 for S. Cal beachies?

I think that has more to do with their foam distribution and plan shape than body type. Their boards tend to be pretty foiled out and narrow at the ends, which makes it hard to get higher volumes out of their shapes. That's why you see stock shapes that are 2.625 thick.
