Ive finally ridden my 5'11 Stamps Rerun (swallow tail) enough times to give a quick review. The foam distribution is interesting. The rails are pretty full all the way towards the front with a pretty flat deck. I didnt really like it at first when I was using AM2s. I had a hard time sinking the...
Why not both? I love this fin set up in the CI avg joe. Machado keel and rusty quad rear. One would think its too much fin, but its so fun. I think it has a lot to do with the keels having a lot of flex.
I scored a beautiful 6'8 XTR moonstone! And its grey not purple!
The seller sold it with the CC keels and said those worked well. any recommendations? I think ill keep it on ice until we get some HH+ waves.
I dropped by to grab some wax and check out the board. It did not feel like a board I would be able to ride at 190lbs. Rails are pretty foiled. It felt like a grom board under my arm. Great condition though.
5’5 x 19 5/8 x 2.5 x 31 L XTR stringerless.
I bought this from @oeste858 a few months back, and have since put a new pad on it. Its sadly a little small for me (6'1 190lb).
I can meet anywhere along the 5 in between delmar and carlsbad.
A photographer was at my local yesterday, I was able to grab a clip from an IG post. I posted the clip below of me doing a little backside cut back on the stamps banjo with the AMKs. I am really enjoying that set up.
I am going to add this clip to my sponsor me reel...
In hindsight, I think the flex was my only problem with those fins. The flex of the AMK is more forgiving.
I wonder how the thickness of the fins plays into it too. The g10 fins are paper thin, whereas the AMKs are pretty thick.
I ended up trying out the AMKs in my banjo this morning. I loved it. More drivey, held through the last 10% of a turn better, and yet was still easier to throw up into the lip. I think the flex plays into that too. The NVS stamps fins are pretty stiff.
Ill give the BMTs a chance, but after...
Has anyone tried the banjo with AMKs? Ive been riding mine with the stamps keel in size medium and I love it in mushy surf, but have struggled with the more bowly sections. I imagine the AMKs would allow for tighter arcs...
Ive had a few rocket wides and decided it was not a great groveler for me. It was pretty fun in bowly conditions, but I couldnt get it to work in softer waves. I briefly had a disco cheater and it felt like it had too much rocker in the tail for where I surf so I quickly sold it.
