Must not be a California meme

Was this actually done?
One thing to have meter readers driving ev's but I wonder about the utility & lift trucks
"SDG&E will add more than 150 EV work vehicles to its fleet, including trouble trucks and aerial lifts, the utility announced at the event. SDG&E also announced its "Race to 500," a commitment to get 500 employees driving electric cars by 2020."

EV fires are a known problem, particularly when charging, supposedly. Very hot and next to impossible to extinguish for hours.

Here's one answer to alleviate the fears of parking garages, let alone your home parking garage.....

https://fireisolator.com/the-danger-of-an-ev-car-fire-in-garages/

Many urban parking garages have banned certain suspect EV's.

These don't happen frequently, but kind of spooky that they can just start crackling just sitting there, even if not charging.

Any damage or flaw in the battery casing or charging setup, can be a weak spot to ignite.
A simple short somewhere could be all that it takes.
Firefighters in Western Florida responded to at least 4 EV fires in one week after Ian.

This EV fire issue after Ian doesn't seem to be going away quietly.....

2 houses burning down 2 weeks later. With more new EV fires popping up daily.

And no afoaf, I DO think EV's are going to happen, because the fed guv is forcing the big car makers to make them.
Even though they're not ready for all, and need huge infrastructure upgrades to support them. Kinks still need to be worked out, and will take years, if not decades. Kind of like the CA Bullet Train promises.:nana:
