I grabbed a 6'8 mid strength for exactly this purpose.

It's great for the task, but you have to accept that the "turns like a shortboard" descriptors are just marketing copy.

Early in, plenty of flow, mellow carves around the face, kick out repeat.

Midlength. 7’2 MOTE Massive is my weapon of choice for when it’s big n mushy. Gets in early, then cruises through the flat spots.

That^. If the wave is more lined up that board is a lot of fun carving around on fatter faces and has a solid range. Can be sized a lot of different ways. Townsend is better managing speed in bigger conditions, but like how the moonstone carries speed when softer with the lower rocker and drive it gets out of turns.
