Probably not.

Just like the Spanish (aka American) flu, we will never achieve herd immunity and this thing is with us pretty much forever.
Good

We agree

So why are you still so in favor of so many overreactionary mitigation policies?

I think the original idea was pushed was that we let it burn through the population and the species would adapt.

This idea was poo-pooed because of all the carnage it would create.

Now that the omicron is much more transmissible that is going to happen whether we like it our not. Mitigation won't work at this point.

Luckily for humans it's not as deadly.

All the steps that people were loosing their sh!t about were to mitigate carnage.

It seems that some people don't mind carnage if they don't think they are are going to be the carnage in the Covid Supreme carnage asada burrito.

Weren't you crying about kids being traumatized by wearing masks for two year?

It's over now.

Let the reverse narratives commence!
Oh it is?

Are you teaching over Zoom again?

Acquiescing to this what seems like a now-permanent overreactive state is how we never get it to go away

It seems like the omicron will insure the virus's surval.

Spread easily and don't kill the host is the ticket to freedom.
It's endemic, as a few posters have said previously.

Now fast forward to the midterm elections when (R) start accusing ByeDon of not doing enough to control the spread of the virus.

You know it's coming.

Depends on what the virus does. It might mutate itself away, like SARS, and be forgotten, and the Repubs will lose their talking point. Or it might mutate itself into a way more deadly antibody-evading black plague killer and tear global society apart. Or it might stick around in the omicron form and just drive the left and the right bonkers and annoy the sh!t out of everybody else.
