Cousin told me advanced pro wave doesn’t have juice at the drop so it’s weird , you pick up more speed down line. Expert wave sounded fun too?

he has surfed all over (aus, Indo, portugal, Africa ) traveled a bunch with me as well so I trust him. He said I would have a great time :shrug:

Surfed it a fair few times, great facility, never noticed it to be dirty. If you chat to some of the guys who surf it regularly they’ll give you tips on the take off etc, but I’m sure you’ll get it after a few waves. There were a lot of good surfers talking negatively about it before it opened and most of them have been back multiple times now.

I’ve been about 5 times since it opened, always on the right. Some thoughts.

I’ve had a lot of fun, it’s well organised, good mellow vibe and you get more waves in ab hour than you would at my local beach. There’s a certain amount of performance anxiety associated with it to start with.

It’s not that wind affected. It stays clean just gets a bit of bump on the face.

Like any spot, it’s better after you have been a coupe of times and understand how the wave works.

The water stays close to the air temp. Board shorts in summer ( when the Atlantic is still60 f). It was around 43 on one session I went last winter. Unseasonably warm this Xmas so shouldn’t be too bad for you.

A bit of foam is your friend here. The expert barrel wave is a quick takeoff and a barrel that fits a shortboard, the regular advanced wave has a steep ish take off but then a fat cut back section before it steepens again. You need something to carry you over the fat spots so a fish is a decent choice. An egg works well but over 7’ it’s too long a board to fit in the wave. It’s quite a short shoulder and you need to stay in the pocket or you bog out.

This is the regular “ advanced wave” board is a 6’10 twin which glides over the fat spots but is short enough to fit.

what jory said! Took a minute to get used to the wave and how it forms. Think I was too close to the wall at first. you really can just Line up with the markers on the wall put head down and paddle.

Trippy haveing 10 people staring at you when you take off.
the wave is shockingly fun caught a dozen waves in an hour and enough juice for decent turns stocked! You definitely get your fill and it’s not to hard to surf.
we surfed advanced plus right. Kind of A bummer you can only go right or left depending which wave you book.

was also surprised shallow is is at the end wonder if anyone has gotten hurt?

Forgot my phone but sisters coming and will take pics when I go again Monday. Hopefully get a few gut back pics. I would recommend a Visit if you are in the UK!

Stoked you enjoyed it!

advanced plus is definitely an improvement on the regular advanced, it’s got more push for sure.

always tempted to try the intermediate wave on a log - could be fun.

there will be pics of your session here:

To be fair I messed up first couple waves! Surfed it again today rode a 5’6 round nose fish and then a 6’0 quad .
best waves on the quad.

couple head dips, one floater ,
some fun top turns don’t try a roundhouse you will mess up the wave :roflmao: 7F6AF426-969F-4831-82A1-90998EC42E8F.jpegA75DD948-AD0E-4A72-9659-95BDEABA7387.jpegC17817A1-C841-4465-8EA8-380B7DD78712.jpeg9E811F37-65DD-493F-A9BF-4BE33AFD7A38.jpeg2ADADAE1-A3CE-46D2-8333-9DB22CA6C32E.jpeg68382936-01F8-40DC-9B01-49759A32B710.jpeg79818079-8EB8-40F5-B394-C3949AA86421.jpeg
