Volume is based on the dimensions of the board and if it was a perfect rectangular prism, than its easy length x width x height.Does anyone know the formula for calculating volume? I think the volume is based on the dimensions of the board, right? Length x width x thickness? I don't think the weight of the glassing, stringer and fin boxes is a factor in calculating volume?
For example, a 5'6 x 18 1/2 x 2 5/16 2lb EPS glassed with single 4oz on top and single 4 oz on bottom will float more than the same exact board with double 6 oz on top and bottom?
If it felt so heavy whyd you buy it?The downside is the Kiteboard technology is heavy. Its about 6lbs. lol. I think its glassed with double 6oz.
Come on. You really have to ask that? It’s a Tomo. A Tomo!If it felt so heavy whyd you buy it?
It was the only 5'6 i could find, everything everywhere is sold out and nothing on CL or OU. I figured with the added weight it would be good for offshore days. My other boards are around 4lbs so 6lbs didnt seem that big of a difference, but it does feel like a cinder block compared to the helium one! haha.If it felt so heavy whyd you buy it?
Maybe it’s the universe or the golden mean telling you to get a kite & harness and get out there on the windy days!It was the only 5'6 i could find, everything everywhere is sold out and nothing on CL or OU. I figured with the added weight it would be good for offshore days. My other boards are around 4lbs so 6lbs didnt seem that big of a difference, but it does feel like a cinder block compared to the helium one! haha.
I hope i dont pull a sunny garcia and smash myself in the face. This board would probably knock someone the F-out.
You should've been patient. It was the only 5'6 i could find, everything everywhere is sold out and nothing on CL or OU. I figured with the added weight it would be good for offshore days. Firewire is sold out of everything so who knows when I'd be able to get a 5'6. I talked to the guys when i picked up the board and they cant even keep boards in the warehouse. As soon as they come in, they go right back out. COVID has definitely changed the surf world. You should've been patient.
I like the feel of the Helium tech on the Hydroshort. There are other options besides Firewire.
I didn't like it. It rubbed me raw in both arm pits so I sold it.How's the Cybersuit working out?
You should have been patient for one that fit you.I didn't like it. It rubbed me raw in both arm pits so I sold it.
The stock suits look like they fit skinny people. Im short and stocky, so...
Patience leads to better surfing.

Sooo, a wildly incorrect formula thenBoardPorn's magic formula ( I saw this on instagram ):
Calculate length in inches times width times thickness - take that number and divide by 106.5
( L x W x H ) / 106.5
e.g. for a 6'0 hydroshort you get (6*12*20*2.68)/106.5 = 36.2 ... published volume is 35
for a 5'9 OB1 you get 32.4. vs published 31.5
