UDAP NO-FED-BEAR

IGBC approved
2lb 7oz

We've used the clears ones and I do like being able to see where stuff is in there but I finally settled on this one for longer trips..just over 36oz. Kinda spendy too but as mentioned earlier, every ounce counts.

when Sport Chalet went under it was a real punch in the gut

I used to spend so much time inside the Grossmont Center store as a grom

ex's family was in La Cañada so we used to go to the original stores often.

I worked on a project just after they built that massive new complex in town

definitely a so cal institution

I used love going to the sporting good stores as a kid.

I used to go smell the neoprene in the wet suit section.

So many toys I wanted.

I was such a greedy materialist.

I distinctly remember the smell of the wetsuits, fins, and boogs

loved their little surf section at the la mesa loc

top floor of ET Surf is similar....all those suits in that small, warm
room up top....throw in some surf wax...and a hint of polyester

it should be a cologne

I switched to running shoes about 15 years ago. Although I do miss my One Sport's whenever I'm in a mosh pit.

finally lost the soles on mine from1996 so I bought a new pair of high
tops along with waterproof low tops

the stiff soles are better for me over uneven trail and talus...my ankles
are shite and going ultralight stresses me out when carrying weight.

Did 6 weeks on AT thru Virginia with a Lawson Hammock Tent and loved it. Staying off the ground is great, several times the tents around me got flooded out and I was high and dry. I never liked hammocks before. I then used a REI Quarterdome to do the AZT from outside Phoenix to Utah, I didn't think I could find enough trees for my hammock but it seemed just as easy to find places for a hammock as for a tent. Merrill MOAB boots! Gregory Balturo 75 liter backpack. Got the big pack in order to carry a bear can(not beer!) You don't have to have it everywhere but I just decided to make it part of my gear, it's easier than hanging food

This guy just did the previously mentioned Rae Lakes Loop and put out this video made with his iPhone 11 Pro Max...it's an hour long so I've been watching it in small bites just to keep the stock up. That iPhone sure shoots nice video for a phone.
Bear at 57.35 looks pretty sizable. Would not want to deal with that in middle of the night. That bear got mad.

Im a big fan of Altras. Did 70 miles from mammoth to south lake in the lone peaks. Light, fast drying, no blisters!

I awoke with a start one morning after being out about 6 days to a really bad smell. I was thinking I really needed to get to a shower. I got out of my tent and there were bear tracks about 10 ft from my tent. I'm claiming the smell was the bear and not me. You really only need to bathe if you are hanging with other people who bathe.

Altra Lone Peak 4.0 with trail gaitor

Those look pretty sweet. I'd like to get something more substantial than my Asics GT2000s. But Merrels hurt my feet and I don't like the weird shoelace system Solomon uses. Maybe Altra if they come in extra wide.

The Alaska bears before hibernation that I got a whiff of smelled like a dumpster behind the fish process factor that the seagulls have pried open and had been pooping in while gorging on the rotting remains.

The ones in the Sierra smell more like Sasquatch after a few days during a summer heat wave in full gear during preseason football scrimmage.
