Can we talk about the new TESLA TRUCK?

That's weird looking. $50K. I thought Tesla cars were way more?
Tesla’s “$50K” equals a MSRP of $60K minus the $10K federal rebate that won’t be around forever. Just like their “$35K” Model 3 costs $45K before the rebate.

There are a hell of a lot of $50K-$60K cars I’d buy before any Tesla. But I have no interest in either a truck or an electric car.

Rebate is about $1850 now after they ‘ve sold plenty cars. Probably won’t be around when this truck is available. Unless something else pops up.....
A new Tundra is $45-50k. A whopping 14 mpg if you’re lucky and the same old v8 and similar body style for the last 10 yrs.

Tesla’s 300 miles full charge costs about $8-10.
My Tundra is about $80 for the same miles. That’s where the savings start to pile up. Fuel/electricity.

The OC
Truck is hideous but if it’s this practical, I might get one. Would love that high end model, but lower end is more realistic.

I wonder about he aerodynamics of all those hards edges? Turbulence?

I always kind of liked the look of these boats- (and talk about gas mileage- 15 gallons a mile!). Click on the link and look at the photos. Some really nice design. If I had 33 million dollars...ah hell I don't have 33 million dollars...

I can’t wait to see what the Asians do to copy this? Traditional bed style trucks will be so boring after this thing appears on the streets.

This is what it looks like when you put down a $100 deposit. I’m all in.

2-3 years from now, I’ll make the decision for reals and based upon the current truck availability at that time, will determine if it happens 019687CA-175C-4883-86F4-ABC42BF71C1D.jpeg

No doubt they'll sell a ton of these if they can deliver a quality product at that price, but if all it take is a hundo to "order" one it's hard view that as legit orders. Seems more like you're just putting a hundred down to hold your place in line to possibly place an order in a few years. I feel like if they could've dialed back the futuristic cartoonish styling just a bit they could've knocked it way way way out of the park.

300 miles for $10 of elec is awesome, but until there are more places to have these things serviced and repaired it's not an option for me.

Model 3 was $1k deposit. Took 2+ years to get your order. Plenty of time to bail on it. $100 is way better. Always get a refund.
Driving down the fwy all I see is the same old truck. Been waiting to get a new truck but they all seem too similar and nothing that special for the cost. This! Sparks my interest at least. Will see what ultimately happens but willing to wait.

I've been leasing electric/hybrid plug ins for the past 5 years now. The worry about maintenance is moot. All electrics don't have much maintenance like traditional engines.

My VW egolf has been my favorite. Amazing handling (batteries = low center of gravity, if you believe in gravity, Bohter) and acceleration (no gears to shift through, 100% torque). I drove about 12k mi/year and my electric bill went up about $60/mo.

The best thing about leasing is that you give it back before the warranty ends. I paid about $230/mo for my lease. Now I have a Honda Clarity plug in for my commute, paying $330/mo. 60 mi all electric before going hybrid mode. I'm averaging 168 mpg, filling up every 2-3 weeks.

Read an article saying Elon wanted a Blade Runner truck and didn't care what anyone else thought. Guess he's going through w/ it. I won't be getting one, but would lease a model 3 or Y in the future for a commuter car.
