I have nothing to contribute here but just stopped in only to be disappointed that the kaser uno dildo head pic hasn't been posted.

I had some neck issues awhile back...

Surfing+broken neck+jiu jitsu+miles and miles on a bike = one fucked up neck.

I got cortisone injections (3 rounds over an 18 month period) no issues at all since (4 years)....
Revisiting this from a while ago. I still have a sore neck after surfing, hand tingling, reduced range of motion. MD said next step (I've been doing PT for over a year) was paint management therapy, and the specialist said acupuncture or cortisone. I thought cortisone was temporary relief. Sounds like you had a longer lasting effect.

When asked about my pain on a scale of 1-10 I said like 2 or 3 ofter surfing. 1or 2 chronically. I didn't think it was enough to warrant injections. Maybe I should just try it?

The hand tingling should concern you. You may never feel pain beyond a 2 or 3 but you’re doing (sometimes irreversible) nerve damage every time you feel that tingle. That’s a bulging disc pinching your nerve. If you’ve ever seen an mri of your neck you will realize just how little room for error there is. What started out as tingling for me turned to numbness, then pain, then loss of use of the arm. The tricep on my right arm never fully came back. I waited too long.

Yes the steroid injections are temporary (and have a poor success rate in the neck compared to the low back). Most people who get them get relief and then immediately return to the bad habits that made their neck fucked up in the first place.

I do traction every day still to this day. I constantly check my posture. I raised the handlebars on my bikes. I changed the way I paddle. I changed the way I do jiu jitsu.

The injections allowed me to do the work to heal my neck. But you have to do the work!

Yeah. I think I have this- https://www.spine-health.com/video/cervical-radiculopathy-interactive-video

I found a few stretches and exercises.

What does the traction involve?

I've found that lately the "head flick" to get the hair out of my face is causing all kind of neck problems.
I've had shoulder length (or longer) hair for the majority of the past three decades. Keeping out of my face in the water is a matter of habit, it just lays back by itself every time i come up from a wipeout or duckdive.

I can see that providing relief while you're doing it. But is it lasting? Maybe miraculously my worn discs will grow or expand? I know, wishful thinking...
I’ve been doing it prophylactically for years. Think of it like wearing braces on your teeth. Over time it uncompresses the spine (or at least slows it’s inevitable compression).

There’s no quick fix that lasts. Every day, protect your neck.

In my advancing years parts of my body are rebelling against my favorite activity- surfing.

I've found that lately the "head flick" to get the hair out of my face is causing all kind of neck problems. It's to the point where it causes tingling and numbness in my hand. In the winter I wear a hood (for that other creeping ailment- surfer's ear), but I think I need something for the summer. One of the things I feel lucky for is a full head of hair and I keep it kind of long so I need something.

Anybody here use a hat, one that doesn't get in the way and doesn't too kooky?
you should just quit surfing...it's the only real solution to what ails ya

Just use a rubber band like most women have been doing for decades. It's a proven utility for hair or a scrunchie if you want to be colorful. Sorry to hear about your neck item. Just how it goes as one ages. It's all down hill when ya know the finish line is around the bend. Hug the kidz and tell the wife ya lover her. That's the best yer gonna leave um with.
