congrats on not dying @oeste858

glad it was just a pulled boob.

Big-ish and junky at da reef. Calm and sunny though. Me and a buddy took our big boards out and made the most of it. It improved with the rising tide and ended up being pretty fun. Lots of exciting drops and a few that walled up and peeled for a bit. Padillac has gotten quite a bit of use this winter. Really enjoying it for these days where the waves aren't really ripable and riding a smaller board isn't really worth the hassle. The big board unlocks the outer part of the reef and I've just found myself really enjoying the glide and speed of a bigger board in bigger waves even if I'm not getting many turns.

Packing up a swag ( roll up tent thingo), coupla boards, portable gas BBQ, beers and some weed, and pissing off halfway through the work day tomorrow to head to that not so secret sand bottom point break with a mate.

Sleeping over on the beach and then hitting it the next day again.

Whadya reckon @Retropete ... are we going to get skunked or not? :D

desperation wanting to try my stamps w/ new fins at home. Bigger than I guessed, wind swell inner bar. Occasional rolling meat grinder would unload just 2 or 3 yards farther out than all the other waves. A lot of waves and a bitch to get out.

A few air drops to the flats to getting pulverized. A couple lame drops to butgering. Got caught by a larger set that broke right in front of me. Dove to the bottom and stayed a while. Could not feel the board and thought it broke or the leash broke. Started swimming in and the board was right behind me. lol
Seemed to be a mutual decision, decided that was enough of that:oops:

Pretty wild and shitty at reef #2. Tide was too low and there were lots of boils and Not huge but powerful and choppy with unpredictable, lurching sections. Took out the new Bomdia because im not a smart man. Had a few fun moments and got a couple tail slidey turns but overall it was pretty difficult to get much going.

Hope not. Supposed to ramp up through today. I’m definitely skunked. Stuck in Sydney until late Sat afternoon. We flew down Tuesday to do Thai passport renewals and we’re headed to the departure gate at the airport yesterday afternoon and they cancelled our flight due to weather. There was a thunderstorm around midday but when we were headed to the airport it was sunny skies again. Next available flight was Saturday. Screw you Jetstar. They don’t compensate for weather events. So have to pay for another 2 nights in Sydney. Had to cancel our markets (food stalls) for us and our daughters who have one as well so lost all our income. On top of that my boys Conure parrot had an accident Tuesday midday and has been at a specialist vets in intensive care since then. Just got a call from the vet saying he’s looking better so could pick him up. Nope. Keep racking up that bill. My mate messaged me last night and reckons W winds for Sunday so aiming for a paddle then.
Sure you’ll score though. Get a few for me. Broke but not stoked I am.

My window was not optimal with the still full tide swamping most spots around. Checked mysto SBD reef, and spied a lil WH peak with one dude paddling around. Lots of water moving around as tide draining. This spot always packs a punch even when it just looks playful. Got a few quick WH-CH wedges: ledgy airdrop, bottom turn, slash, kickout before ran into exposed reef boil. Got kinda gnarly with all the exposed reef popping up. Not much room out there to ride as it got shallower. Got caught inside a couple closeout sets. Tried to be picky/ cautious so probably rode 7 waves in 40 min. Pulled back on quite a few suckouts. What a puss!
I had thought I was gonna milk some soft dribblers. Boar actually did alright but wasn't ideal for how sucky it ended up getting towards the end: 5’9 elliptical nose Tomo X-wing with a friggin triple-point swallow deathstar tail… rode as a twin + trailer! LOL

Swell came down a bit today. Dawn patrolled it at a shallow sandbar. The forecasts were calling for south wind but as the sun rose, the surface conditions became more glassy. There were a number of double ups and close outs but the inbetweeners were money. Scored a couple of lined up rights and got some decent turns on the backhand, and made a sloppy exit through the lip of a left barrel. Overall it was a solid morning session.

Rode the CI Twin pin with the Captain Fin Chippas. They feel like a little too much, but when the surf is more critical I prefer them to the Rasta's I have. The inner foil on the Rastas feels less engaged and looser, which can be fun when there is some room/time to move and groove on the wave. I'd like to get a good fin set that sits in between the feeling of these two.

Surfed middle beach on my 6’6” Townsend. The waves were nothing special, but as I was paddling for a wave I heard a loud boom. Shortly after I saw smoke rising up on Noriega and saw a bunch of fire trucks heading that way. Once I got out and checked my phone I saw that a house blew up! Fuckin crazy

That's on 22nd @ Noriega. I get my oil changed up that way. I think that's closer to @bluengreen . I'm in the 30 blocks and a few streets South.

That story keeps getting wilder. One person dead, another injured, a firefighter injured. Barrels, canisters, and drums of stuff. ATF on the scene. A city box truck that was transporting those materials then started leaking material, shutting down Bart stations today.

Another weird thing I keep thinking of was that there was a fire and mini explosion over this way a couple months ago. I wan to say that was in the 40 blocks between Quintara and Noriega. Not as dramatic, but an interesting coincidence in a pretty quiet corner of the city.

fun but crowded early with the local hs (not really local) who will now do surf practice from 6:30-9:30am 3 days a week killing the dawn patrol fun for most of the weekdays now. da fk??? seriously, what selfish asshat teachers who now get to surf on my taxpayers money all in the name of an organized sport. also, instead of class, these kids are getting to surf and then get to school after 10am. any lawyers out there can chime in on this fleecing of america.

anyways, waves would roll and dump but managed one of the better rights in a long time with a speed run and a closeout reo. sultwinn lit the fk up and is one of the fastest boars i've ever ridden. pretty hp though so wants more of a steeper face.

Rumors of surf remain significant exaggerations. Surfed the queen this afternoon between shifts and, while not many on it, it was miniscule. 3-5' my @$$. Regardless, a fin experiment with the GMM2 revealed the larger thruster set up to be sub-optimal. Good to know. It is my fish, after all, so quad it shall remain.

Surfing against Sr. Pyzel tomorrow at the Queen. Hope to make it through at least one round. We shall see.

Surfed this morning at a different spot than usual on Oeste’s Aipa for the first time in quite a while. I took a bit to get used to the lack of forward volume but I was also in a bad headspace due to a sick dog. I watched the other four duuus that were out get barreled but I just struggled to catch waves or would get in too late for the barrel and have to scoot around. Came in to bad news about the pup. Rough week.
