Anyone hear anything, just came home for lunch and heard it on the radio. Sounds like Tecoman is near the epicenter? Have some friends down there.

4.5 from a co-worker in Mexico City. Said it wasn't too bad, at least where he's at

Big shake here, long too. Right at mid bong hit. Whoa! Small tsunami in Zihuatanejo bay. There was an earthquake drill in Mexico City 50 minutes before the quake hit. The drill was a ceremony for two previous quakes on September 19. 1985 was a biblical disaster, followed by 2017.

once in Chile the quake was so powerful my black landlords' face turned white
as he urged us out of the (midrise) building. :bricks:

Another 6.9 around 1:15am, same place as Monday. :drowning:

Hopefully this means lots of stress being relieved in relatively smaller chunks than some whopper 8.5 or something.

But as my friend who lives on the Hayward fault often says, "What stress is relieved with the slow creep is loading something else up."

My friend on the Hayward Fault is a full on earthquake geek and I defer to his predictive analysis about such things.

However, I would note that I used to track some of his thoughts on a spreadsheet out of some sort of masochistic glee and, well, I don't know how accurate a bonobo would be with lawn darts at 15 paces, but if memory serves, I should have bet on the primate winning that comparative analysis.

(In my very humble opinion, tthe timing side of this stuff is where it always breaks down...we all know faults will rupture, have decent idea of magnitude, much more vague on actual epicenter, so the 'when' is the biggest part.)

PS
I don't really want to ask him what he thinks about LA fault/quake matters.
