how many chinese-made printers are sitting in shipping containers right now?
Majority comes from Japan, Thailand and S Korea. Same shipping containers though. 2020 was the best year I've ever seen and 2021 was going to easily beat it until new equipment arrivals ground to a halt last month. Basically the entire printer/copier industry, the parts to keep existing machines going and the toner to run them is sitting in those containers. Tell your school district to check their backup toner supply because they might not get it otherwise until March if whoever they deal with will even ship them backup due to rationing.

Funny thing....... I had to do a search when I got to the office and sure enough my hunch was correct. I can tell you that a particular small new jersey school district you might be VERY familiar with generates at least 6 million pages of print per year. This particular district is spending approximately $55,000 a year on print hardware, maintenance, supplies and paper just that I am aware of from the RFP on the main printing devices. I'm sure there are other smaller printing devices in that district that were not part of the RFP.

Pay attention:

The NEWS says the California port situation is caused by a driver shortage.

Not so fast: It is in part caused by a California Truck Ban which says all trucks must be 2011 or newer and a law called AB 5 which prohibits Owner Operators.

Traditionally the ports have been served by Owner Operators (non union). California has now banned Owner Operators.

Long term, truckers in California are not investing in new trucks because California has a law that makes them illegal in 2035. The requirement is to purchase electric trucks which do not exist.

And in the words of Paul Harvey, “Now you know the rest of the story”

BUSINESS
CARB to begin blocking certain trucks’ DMV registrations in 2020

Carriers domiciled in California with trucks older than 2011 model, or using engines manufactured before 2010, will need to meet the Board’s new Truck and Bus Regulation beginning in 2020 or their vehicles will be blocked from registration with the state’s DMV, the state has said.

The new “health-based requirements” will need to be met before a driver is allowed to register his or her truck through the Department of Motor Vehicles, CARB says. A new enforcement tool used by the DMV beginning in 2020 will automatically block 2010 and older trucks from registration

I thought supply chain disruptions and empty store shelves only happened in socialist and communist nations.

This was supposed to be unpossible in a capitalist society.

Do you think any of Biden's policies might have been a cause of said supply chain issues?
you seem to, but you don't have any facts to back it up so you keep making a fool of yourself

if you actually had a point to make, you would have made it already

See 2Surf's post above :trout: This is the result of democrat legislation, like all of California's problems.

yes this is all the fault of one party in one state, and totally not a worldwide phenomenon.
Lost of the goods going in and out of the US go through California ports. Driver shortages are a big part of that, and the problem is made artificially worse by crap legislation written by California state legislators that have an 80-90% majority.

You got caught talking out your ass again. Receipts got pulled. The school district reached out to me at the end of last school year to quote on upgrading their production printing equipment and the software that logs and tracks what mediocre teachers like you print. 6 million prints per year on the machines in question. I thought you said Google eliminated print in schools? Were you ignorant, lying or just being a dick as usual?

do they know what utter contempt you have for teachers, schools, and the public school system in general? i bet they don't. how sadly ironic that, for all your whining, you make your living at the government tit.
