It all comes down to advertising dollars. At some point there will be a saturation of 18 - 25 YO attractive IG influencers or TikTok/YT content creators who move enough product to justify the $$.

People have been complaining about corruption of youth, lack of work ethic etc since Socrates got 'cancelled'. The kids will be alright.
Have you looked at the data?

The older men will have to teach the younger men why they should get up, go to work, yada yada, yada, yada .......

Before "they" start families, they need to learn a trade, go to college, have a goal and figure out what they can do in life to survive themselves, before a family should / need to be considered. "They," need to be to be "survivors" to begin with.

Agreed. To be fair, IMO almost every generation in human history has watched their offspring being born into an easier existence and called them lazy for it. Which is often a good thing, because it shows progress as a society.

However there has certainly been a quantum leap in the last decade as to what constitutes "work" or "trading hours for dollars". I still worked all sorts of misery laden jobs in my younger years to earn some scratch for something to get buzzed on or a surf trip. Now you can drive strangers around in your car or deliver sandwiches for a similar or greater amount :foreheadslap: :roflmao:

Then they roll those profits into crypto or GME stonks. It's a crazy world out there with all kinds of hustles :dancing:

You gotta be real pearl-clutcher to whine about onlyfans and insta-hoes to be honest. Even ten years ago women in the sex trade had to deal with violent pimps, shitty stripclub patrons, and skeezy porn producers. Now they're making Sasha Grey's lifetime earnings in a month. Good on em.

As a counter-point to all this, you know who the most worthless members of society are? Boomer landlords that vacuum up wages from the middle class, they contribute literally nothing. At least that queen with the makeup videos provides some kind of entertainment for his viewers.

Do you have kids?
Whether I have kids or not has no bearing on the actual facts surrounding the issue. I can certainly understand being more concerned if you have kids, as would I, but that doesn't change reality.

Posting an Amazon link to a book that confirms your bias is simply that- a single source that confirms your bias. Somebody has written a book for every conceivable mindset, so you have to do better than simply posting an author who agrees with you.

With that said, I do agree that succeeding in todays world, beyond being the lucky youtube or onlyfans phenom, is tougher for most. You can only ride the post WW2 and pre-internet manufacturing boom for so long.

Robert Putnam is also not some slap-dick pop lit author:
You have no idea what you're talking about and no skin in the game. I'm trying to figure out why you're talking.

Yeah.... No.

The whole protestant work ethic thing phased out last millennium.

Even my eldest brother, already in his 60's, never finished college, and most definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed (this one got sent to summer camp to learn to use cutlery and matches without ending his or others lives in the near vicinity). He just married the pretty girl, whose dad had a thriving local business. Through his college contacts snd a few lucky hand presses, it grew beyond his wildest dreams. TBH, selling candy at a wholesale level in the midwest doesn't take much brain, brawn nor book learnin.

Many, many, many people have succeeded in the world without lifting a finger.

Don't believe me? Just look at 70% or more of the "ruling class".

You post nothing but dystopian tripe that mostly goes unresponded. I don’t need to have kids to point out that the “kids these days” and “world is going to hell” narratives are as old as the spoken word itself.

Get data disproving what Putnam is saying or shut-up. Put up or shut-up.

You’ve done nothing but link an Amazon title, so I’m not sure what points you want me to address. I agree that there are serious issues in our society. Eventually kids grow up and have their own and the cycle continues.

That said, I don’t want to derail a Hawaii thread, so if you want to start a thread in the Foil Forum we can continue this there.

BTW, use the Ignore function if you don’t like what I have to say, kook

I don't want you to address anything. I want you to shut up since you have neither kids nor data and don't know what you're talking about.

There are never de-rails on the erBB.

Oneula brought up the "kids these days" thing. In my experience, older generations stick their heads in the sand about the results of their policies and parenting.

BTW, use the Ignore function if you don’t like what I have to say, kook
It works both ways. Have you taken your own advice?

College is expensive enough and the returns aren’t exactly guaranteed that while it’s a very worthwhile experience I agree with Mike about it vs the trades
