What is already known about this this topic?
Wearing face masks in public spaces reduces the spread of SARS-CoV-2.
What is added by this report?
The governor of Kansas issued an executive order requiring wearing masks in public spaces, effective July 3, 2020, which was subject to county authority to opt out. After July 3, COVID-19 incidence decreased in 24 counties with mask mandates but continued to increase in 81 counties without mask mandates.

Tennessee areas where mask requirements were instituted over the summer have substantially lower death rates due to COVID-19 as compared to areas without mask requirements, according to a new analysis by Vanderbilt Department of Health Policy researchers.
The analysis, led by John Graves, PhD, associate professor of Health Policy and director of the Vanderbilt Center for Health Economic Modeling, finds that early adopting counties saw their death rate begin to decline by late July, while later adopting counties saw declines in August and September. Non-adopting counties continue to see death rates rise, the researchers found.

Facts and reality have no place here! So boring.

So the virus, being generally supportive of BLM chose not to infect those protesters....

Ok.

Unfortunately for you the case numbers don’t play out that way.

After the riots here in CA cases went up (especially in LA). Newsom blamed opening bars too soon but cases spiked a few days after bars opened (then they got shut again). The occurred about 2 weeks after the rioting started.

Probably just a coincidence considering that covid-19 is a supporter of BLM.

Makes sense. Covid certainly has killed a lot of people and BLM loves to rally around criminals.
So is the virus racist?

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing.

I was responding to the the CDC guidelines which include wearing a mask in this post:

Then I put up some studies from two different locations (so not just one data point), showing masks did reduce infection rates.

Infection rates are not the same thing as death rates.

I get that you think infection rates are not the salient issue, and I can see logic in this way of thinking, but I also see the logic in not getting ill from CV-19 for a variety of reasons.

kind of a weird position - we'd think that these people may get covid after attending such an event.
also look at manhattan - you cannot photograph it - but we saw the cases.

yes you can present this photograph, no it does not mean anything other than a few businesses made some money.
The people who attended this event will be fine.

Pretty much.

The vaccine is racist too. Go figure.
This year has made it incandescently obvious that this is not a real country. We cannot live with the other side and they cannot live with us. Then there are the 20% of the population that is foreign-born with whom we have no shared history. The USA is a yugoslavia of globalism and I can't see what is holding it together other than inertia.
