Funny story and somewhat related to this thread (there’s a lesson here that some of you will get)...

I recently did some work at Edwards AFB and the 11 page document that I had to agree to and sign spelling out the MANDATORY procedures that I MUST FOLLOW AT ALL TIMES!!! was so over the top, minutely detailed (after using hand sanitizer you are wipe the cap of the bottle with a disinfecting wipe) and at time’s contradictory to the security procedures that I MUST FOLLOW (wear a mask (which had to discarded and replaced if I touched it (not sure how to put it on without touching it) and placed in a double plastic bag which is then wiped with disinfectant before being placed in a dumpster) it was comical.

Anyway, get to the base with a box of ziplock bags, Clorox wipes, 10 masks, gloves...

Go in to get my guest pass and they tell me to remove the mask to take a photo.

Get to job site and nobody is wearing masks, gloves or anything. My site contact, smoking a cigarette, shakes my hand and says, “wtf is going on in your state?”

He’s from Arizona.

Needless to say none of the covid protocols were followed. None.

Beyond that we did run into one issue. There’s an area of the base I need to access that is super duper high security, as in shoot on sight high security. Normally I go into a building, they take my phone and computer and cameras and ID, assign me an armed escort, search my truck (which I have to convince them to even allow me to take it in).

Well everyone involved in that process was working from home so it was all closed.

Ok, so this civilian base employee that is the contact of my contact says fuck it “we’ll go around”.

Now get this, there’s and electrified fence and double entrence to get in (enter a gate which closes behind you and now you’re caged in where they search you then the second gate opens) but, I kid you not, the fencing just....

...ends about a mile down a dirt road.

So we went around.
