Some are, others live in them the majority of the time. You can finance them too for around the same price as a monthly rent payment.

NOPE. It was a Hand me Down to me and I lived in it for a minute. Upgraded to a better one and gave this one to a Local Fisherman.

Love to hear why I got a "Thumbs Down" Afoaf....

If I was a trustafarian, I'd probably own a sprinter. They're pretty sweet.

If I were a trustafarian I would be spending my trust money on hookers and blow.

The classy Newport Beach whores and the quality Merck cocaine.

Cause I'm classy, see.

I drive a sprinter. I'm no trust fund guy. I bought my van new in 2016 for $34k. Sticker price said 45k, you gotta haggle the sh!t out of the sales people. It's nice and has a bunch of bells and whistles, say 6k worth of add on's and crap. That's less a new pickup truck with a hell of a lot more room. Yeah, I get it, the vans reek of trustifarians and yeah lots of dudes diving them are probably lame. But, the vans are so useful and mine makes sense for my family. I also get 24 mpg (4cyl 2.0 liter diesel) way better than my Tacoma ever did.

We had a Sprinter based View RV. Drove it around the country until it hit around 50K-55K miles. Started to nickel dime us so we sold it. Bought an ERA Sprinter RV van with the extended body-height option (EXT) drove it around the country to 50-60K miles. Sold it. Sprinter vans generally do NOT come with insulation (if hot out, hot inside, if cold out cold inside). Around 50K miles the small things happen that run up the maintenance... some sensor or the rear wheel (in case of high winds the sensor shut off the ability to use the cruise control and limit speed To 50 mph) went bad. At the time, we “limped” into El Paso Mercedes Benz to get it fixed. Dealer told us MB services could either be licensed by MB to work on electric option Mercedes autos or Sprinters... this dealer didn’t work on Sprinters. Service told us we could get the problem corrected at the MB dealership in Dallas or San Antonio. As we were going to a wedding in San Antonio we limped (50 mph) for a day to San Antonio. $600 later, the sensor was replaced. When we returned to San Diego the sensor on the other wheel went bad... fixed it $500 or $600 I forget. Sold the RV for $80K and bought A “FUSE” diesel Ford RV that hasn’t cost us anything of consequence for 40K miles. The Spriner got 18-20 mpg, the Ford get the same. No brainer... unless you’re a label whore...

I could see getting one when I retire. Especially now that they're 4x4 from the factory.

I think what's more funny are the 1500-3K poput tents that are permanently mounted on daily city drivers. Oh well, not my money or extra gas.

No doubt would be a cool rig for long trips. If I had the cash I think I’d prefer a 4x4 one over a trailer or slide in camper.

I’ve always done the cap on the back of my trucks, unroll one of those extra large inflatable bed rolls and it’a an awesome covert camper.

a few past set ups.

Now on to this. Not sure yet how to set up the back; always have tons of ideas but usually end up keeping it simple.

I've owned a vanagon for over 15 years now. I would love to get a Sprinter when I retire to cruise the national Parks and backroads. It would be roomier and way better climbing grades, but a 4WD Sprinter is $WD. I thought vanagon prices have overinflated the past ten years (which has been to my advantage as I've bought and sold two and always got more than I paid after using them for years... what other car can you do that with?) but the $100,000 price tags on some is crazy.:bricks:
