1st year with 3/3 hyperfreak front zipper and still holding up great no problems so far and just as flexible as day one.just got a new oneill hyperfreak 4/3 comp zipperless...its the lightest and most stretchy feeling suit I've had to date...it's not as warm as my excel, but the feel and comfort is way better...the material feels like soft blanket...pretty cool stuff, we'll see how long it lasts, I just got rid of a 4/3 flash bomb, that thing started leaking in the lower regions as soon as the second season started..terrible
Yeah those were next level for the time.I had one of their first zipper-free suits in 1997 or 1998. Great suit.
definitely. And its been about 20 years since I’ve seen a game-changing wetsuit. Probably since around 2000 when rip curl was making a really nice elasto 6/5/4.Yeah those were next level for the time.
Now elasto is the cornerstone of your wardrobe.definitely. And its been about 20 years since I’ve seen a game-changing wetsuit. Probably since around 2000 when rip curl was making a really nice elasto 6/5/4.
What the options for hooded 5/4s which are as warm as Xcels even when it's windy? My only experience with fancy rubber, Matuse, was not good. It was OK when the sun was shinning but if was cloudy or the wind blows, or both, you would freeze. Also their 4/3 was more like a bad 3/2.
Are the Yamamoto rubber suits more wind resistant?
Except for smooth skin. Water evaporating off a full-jersey suit contributes a lot to heat loss. Most suits are going to be cold when it's windy. There's no way around physics.
true, but then you compromise flexibility don’t you?Except for smooth skin. Water evaporating off a full-jersey suit contributes a lot to heat loss.
In my opinion yes. Yamamoto repels almost feels like smothieWhat the options for hooded 5/4s which are as warm as Xcels even when it's windy? was pondering the thought but opted not to, have heard the 3/2 and 4/3 comp zipperless run a bit cold for their respective thickness. the + version add an extra .5 and the zipper. not really hindered by the zipper so no problem.Gonna get that next but will probably try zipperless
