I’m off all forms of social media except erbb and although that is probably unhealthy I don’t think it’s the same thing as Facebook Instagram one upsmanship

I aim to keep my kids off social media as long as possible

I think people are waking up to the fact that it is generally destructive and so maybe it will be seen as a bit of a curious fad down the road

Or maybe I am just old and out of it

I like instagram for looking at videos and cool pictures.

I like facebook for keeping track of my family members.

The key is deleting and avoiding to the accounts that are "influencers". I don't mind watching cool clips of some pro surfer. At least they have a identifiable talent.

agree with BillyO on this....

have never had a social media account, tho i spend too much time on Reddit (which means I have wallowed in the worst of it). but maybe this why I can say confidently that I know of no one with whom I would trade lives. i'm certainly better off keeping it that way.

erBB is pretty much the only thing I am on (and it's a nuisance on a smartphone), social media wise. Occasionally I troll the Yahoo comments but that's about it. Almost never go on Facebook anymore. It's almost all poison and not really entertaining. I am getting to a point where a smartphone is just useless to me these days. Besides, every app crashes constantly (and it doesn't matter what kind of phone - they all suck) to the point of it being unusable. Probably upgrade to a flip phone that actually works sooner or later.

It's nice to track where I am hiking via Alltrails but that app crashes every time I take a photo.

Kind of funny that a smartphone incorporates all these tools (computer, music, camera, etc.) but it does all of them extraordinarily shittily. shrug

Definitely keeping the kids off social media.

And no, you are just one of the very small minority who sees the technology emperor as naked and that it's all a bunch of time wasting BS that doesn't actually make your life better; just creates more anxiety and takes up MORE of your time, not less.

Nothing is obscene provided it is done in bad taste.

Seems like it. Even in kindergarten, have already seen the girls bullying starting. Gets even worse on social media from what I hear and I don't want my daughter anywhere that toxicity if I can help it. Not to mention all the predators out there too. crazy2

I'd like to try surfing but everyone knows there aren't any waves on the East Coast.
