Giving a TedX talk is scary. I'm no JIll Anjuli Hansen, but ask me how I know.

helps to be a professional actress or bs artist or someone passionate of what they do
here's a couple of my Kamehameha classmates:

elizabeth lindsey
former miss hawaii, former "china beach" actress, widow of John "Doc" Buyers CEO of C. Brewer

and class president and waterpolo goalie Mathew Souza who now goes by M Kalani Souza some kind of hawaiian priest suffering with Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Nice job Chris. I would be petrified.

Hey, did Hurley pay incentives?

Nope. I should've hit old Bob up I reckon. I was gonna at first get all dressed up but that made me more nervous. So not long before I was to go on, I was like, fook it, I'm a surfer. I'm wearing my Levis, Vans and a surf t-shirt, just like I've worn since I was 15. That calmed me down enough to tell the tale.

how big was the audience?
I've done talks up to 300+ in dole cannery

nothing really big like a conference keynote to thousands

they say just pick a face or two in the front and make like your are just talking to them
the more of them you do the easier it is

I'd say about 400. It was at UGA where I went to journalism school. And yup, I picked out my mom!

I've done groups as much as 1,500. (I'm not a good speaker at all)

For me, knowing that these TED Talks are documented online forever would make me even more nervous.

yup
the net is forever
thank god the stuff we talk about is confidential and proprietary
its amazing how ni'ele locals are. They love to hear the dirty laundry stories regarding other local companies getting scammed. But knowledge is the best tool for prevention as no one wants to be the subject of a future presentation

plus certain of our law enforcement guests don't allow filming

I had never heard Rodney Mullen speak before.

Never knew he was so intelligent, passionate, and quirky.

That was really cool. Thanks for sharing cheers

Mullen's talk was my first foray into listening to Ted talks, my impression was the same as yours @jkb. It was particularly salient for me, as I work in the software industry, so the parallels he drew I never considered.
