damn, that's crazy! WHY would ANYONE steal a duran duran tape?

the empty car thing is a drag, i shipped from madrid to the canaries and we literally STUFFED the car CHOK FULL! mountain bike worht almost a grand, my wifes cruiser, boxes and boxes of clothing, kitchen utensils, pots pans etc... practically moved the entire house out in the back of the car... not one thing was missing, not even the entire cd collection (over 1500 of them). i personally put it into the container and got to seal it in madrid before they put it onto the back of the 18 wheeler that drove it to the port in valencia, then shipped to gran canaria and then to fuerteventura. it cost more than what you all are talking about for the cali/hawaii shipment, but then i know we saved on what it would have cost us to get all our stuff down here otherwise.

have a good trip nautica!

Thats why they need a steady supply of imports ... so many people drive them till they stop, then just leave them wherever they die. Its not like you can get a tow truck 5 miles out some gnarly lava road. Maybe get somebody help you tow it off the road if you're feeling like "pitching in".

It's pretty easy if use something called RORO - they basically drive it onto a boat and tie it down. I've heard of some people using container shipping too, but I think that might be less common? Anyway, I've used A1AutoTransport and they were pretty reasonably priced and I didn't have any problems - they did the job & it arrived when expected.

I just realized the date on this post - I would guess it's been taken care of. Never mind.

I shipped my car to Oahu over 30 years ago. I was told not to leave anything in the car but I had a big duffel bag filled with climbing gear and I was too cheap to pay the over weight baggage fee. I figured they don't break into every car and I'd risk it. Plus I thought that most the lowlifes breaking into cars wouldn't even know what the climbing gear was and would have no use for it. I was half right. They left most of the hardware but took every carabiner and all the soft goods (ropes, slings, harness ect.)
