Well I made a visit to the most evil surfshop on the planet in Rockaway Beach New York and I see all of these shiny new Canyon surfboards! Some have beautiful colors with actual resin tints! I started looking at them and there was no shaper signature any where, then I saw the austrailian blank logo and after to or three boards I finally found the "made in china sticker" barely visible!
I know we have gone through this topic before but it really was heartbreaking to see the Canyon logo being basterdized in such a way.
I'm not pro suing but I really hope that Canyon is still registered to someone in Ca. who can sue the pants off these motherfuckers!

I don't think so this shop is the birthplace of satans spawn! They take every name that has lost it trademark and made it new again! Plastic Fantastic, Surfboards Austraila, Challanger all names of past glory taken over by these guys.

gotcha, that sounds lame.

everyone was pissed when Realm surfboards started showing up at Costco. People were ready to hang PatO, he got pissed then found out when he sold the license rights he lost control and they could do pretty much as they like.

Chinese companies have bought up a lot of American trademarks. See this: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2003/12/26/financial1038EST0037.DTL

Some people probably sold them the rights to Plastic Fantastic and other obsolete (worthless) but recognizable brand names for a few bucks.

Tom Sena, owner of the Rockaway Beach Surf Shop, owns the name along with Surfboards Australia, Plastic Fantastic, Surfers Alliance, and some other older brands. He has the boards made in China and sells them for a good profit to other shops and customers.

Sell outs ruined surfing:
#1 Sean Collins

There are really great shapers out there that nobody has heard about because they've chosen to stay away from the limelight, then there are shapers who are in the limelight making big $$ and crappy boards. Try getting a good Merrick with clean lines on the east coast, nearly impossible, they come with huge chunky rails.

Sounds like he may have a case. I think if he can prove he was too stupid to enter into a legal contract, he might be able to get those rights back. Seems to me if he thought by selling the licensing rights he would maintain contol over the licensing rights, he might have a solid stupidity argument.
