China thought they could calm the masses with consumerism.

Do a degree they have.

Hong Kong used to be "free."

It's hard to have stuff taken off your plate.

only significant thing Google has going on in China is AI research. they've been out of the search market in China for years now replaced by Chinese government own search engines.

"Internet censorship is tightened during this time of each year not only to prohibit discussion of the brutal crackdown on the pro-democracy protest that happened 27 years ago, but to erase the incident from Chinese history, especially among younger generations."

When I taught in China, they were brutes.

I called them on it and the lady in charge said, "What you going to do about it? You stuck here."

I looked to my friend and said, "She don't know me very well."

With three weeks left on our teaching assignment, we snuck out of the hotel after class, took off running across China and were on a plane home the next day.

Their default to troublemakers is to put the pressure on.

I used deception and evasion, which I think really surprised them.

They send me emails asking where I was.

I said, back in the USA.

They flipped their shit.

FU china!

You just know our progressives have a raging boner right now, watching the ultimate expression of international socialism replay itself again for the umpteenth time. Socialism isn't functional without coercion, whether that coercion occurs via social shaming and social credit scores or - failing that - at the end of a gun barrel.

Is the airport still opening?

I''ve had a bunch of connections there.

There are more people taking pictures than rioters?

It's not a riot until the girls start pulling up their tops.
