You’re so predictable. I said a judoka vs an unskilled opponent. A high amplitude throw will end the fight vs a bitch ass double leg they teach in BJJ. Then you got to choke pound etc if that’s the case

I also said a judoka with good ground control can dominate in a fight. Have you ever been pinned by a high level heavy judoka? It’s sucks.

My go to move is awareness. After that it’s de-escalating. If that doesn’t work I leave the scene.

yup. exactly. i'd only fight if i was cornered with no way out. if i can walk or run away i will. live to surge another day broz

Trained beats untrained. Whoopi.

I’d never use a double leg in a street fight. The wrestling skill isn’t about taking people down as much as to prevent from being taken down.

I don’t know about where you train BJJ but we train all kinds of throws. One of the instructors there is a Judo blackbelt. We train throws in the gi and throws adapted to no gi.

Yes, I train with high level judokas all the time. Some are better than others on the ground. Most pure judokas get choked.

And again, pure judokas never train without a gi and the majority of judo throws are heavily dependent on grips. When training no gi with judokas I’ve noticed that their throws are largely negated.

Maybe you’re under the impression that I only train butt scooting sport BJJ and nothing else. That isn’t the case.

I am 46. I train at boxing gyms for one reason and one reason only - to not be fat. I have always assumed that if I was to get in to a "street fight," I am going to get my ass kicked or get killed. This assumption, along with smiling a lot, not being a hot head, and treating people with respect, seems to work for me. I have also reached the conclusion that people who actually train aren't the ones you need to worry about anyway.

Google how many people have concealed carry permits in your county, and the total number of handgun permits. Then there are the off duty cops who are packing and have a lot more leeway to fvck you up. Makes you think twice about walking around all puff chest. My cop brother in law swears that there is about 2% of population who just don't give a fvck. You don't want to meet them.

Manage your tempers, people.

My ex-cop brother-in-law in Texas would probably say you are undercounting it or not taking into effect beer.

Yep. The most dangerous guy out there is a pissed off 16 year-old gangbanger with .38 stuffed in his belt and nothing to lose. He doesn't give two sh!ts about your ground game.

Duffy, I'm just curious how long have you been training & what belt you are? I'm not fishing, just looking for some perspective. Thanks in advance.

Really good points.

Nothing groundbreaking but being nice, situational awareness, having no visible ego, and location has kept me out of any real poundings. Slaps and false cracks were all taken and swallowed when they had to be. Knowing when to leave a party was helpful. It easy to get into fights, harder to work your way out of one.
