I listened to those the last couple nights at work, just about sold me on a hi-aspect wing!

I thought it was interesting that the host hadn't moved his mast around to change the lift of the wing, shows how little information there is out there on foiling.

Here is a good vlog/advertisement on the Armstrong foils

They definitely got me frothed to get out there, and yeh, seems like a serious minority sport at the moment with regards to gear info/settings and stuff

Foil brain is real. But there is not enough information to keep me satisfied. I broke down and bought a regular board which should be delivered today. Real good foil sessions last 2 days though. I've started to just try harder and harder turns early on, not caring if I fall because that just mean less paddling back to the peak, or skipping the 8 minute walk back.

Oh regarding that guys statement about his back leg burning and being more built than his front leg. It seems the consensus among the more experience foilers is that his foil is to far back in the box. I have noticed that when I leave my mast placement back in the box for bigger waves my leg burns more. I'm wondering if I should move mine even further forward now.

Naish Large and I have it placed forward of center in the box. I've never measured the distance to the tail, maybe I should.

I asked him why he hates leashes. He thinks when you fall they'll tangle you up with the board. Maybe it's a SUP thing?

KDMaui saying hold your board upside down by the front wing and make sure the board is balanced is the easiest way to figure out track placement. I tried it out. My board was balanced. So I'm going to confirm his statement.

Same, my turns are getting much better, but my pumping is in disrepair.

Hard to believe that kane is only 18. Sounds smart and mature for his age (much more than me and I'm over 2x older).

Was it axis that Brian and the host were saying are so refined that they look like car parts?

Armstrong, that bit was funny, and yeh he spoke particularly well for an 18 year old.

Or a unifoil at half the cost. (Same wing designer)

yeh i'm super keen to get on the unifoil setups, they do a 150 high aspect wing now too, the shortboard manoeuvrability of the smaller wings in actual waves is starting to appeal to me the more you watch clips on insta, but then you have to remind yourself how skilled these guys are and try not to get sucked into chasing the new new.

The high aspect wings are supposed to be hard to ride in waves. Kane de Wilde says he doesn't use his albatross in the surf that much. He uses the Signature Stealth in waves.

yeh unifoil are doing smaller high aspect wings that seem to be manageable in the surf compared to the 210, mizofernando has a clip of him surfing the 170 hyper on his insta.

they are doing a 150 stealth too for the smaller guys, thats what cliff recommended for my weight.

I've figured out I just want to be up on foil as long as possible, I'm addicted to the glide.

A friend of mine that has just about every foil got the Albatross said it was a lot different than anything he's ridden.

Naish has the hi aspect 2000 wing, but waiting to see how folks compare it to the competition.

A mate of mine looked into getting some Unifoil gear but the shipping (to Oz) made it non-vaible, so he went with Armstrong.

I've listend to these podcasts a couple of times now & tried pumping my 900 axis using Zane's discription "like a horse trotting" technique, it worked!

Good work sozz

They really are a gold mine, more emphasis on prone stuff too unlike most of the forums.

yeh that technique worked on the takuma when I could get it right, you watch kdmaui etc they just pop pop pop up and down instead of the racing forward full swoop action, went back on my 1250 gong yesterday, couldn’t pump that at all ha, did a 4 wave link on the takuma last week so it shows how big a part the wing plays.

Definitely need to listen to em all a few times to soak in the froth and the info.
