$1000 p/mo p/person is an idea. IMO a good one.
Why is he stuck in the pack?

Everyone should get a block of cheese.

I think you're going to have a tough time finding anyone who thinks those bailouts were a moral response WRT to the conduct of those companies. I think people might be evenly divided on the merits of not allowing that many employees and other sectors of the economy to fail as part of the inevitable sequence of events when the too-big-to-fail companies are actually allowed to fail. But there are also plenty of people (like me) who want to see companies fail outright when they engage in such conduct, regardless what it does to their employees and other participants in the market.

Just like I think the Quantitative Easing our gov't has been engaging in is immoral, despite the short term results.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Do you know what will happen when everyone gets a $1,000 a month?

$1,000 per month will be worth what is now $0 per month.

Also that $700 billion bailout you mention? Chump change to the cost of UBI.

UBI will cost an estimated $3.8 trillion....

....per year....

...year after year.

Like I said. Math.

people whine about "socialism!" but are so blinded by the powers that be that they fail to recognize that we already have socialism . . . for corporations and not people.

a day will come when the Fed will engage in one-time "helicopter money" operations - literally giving people money to spend. this will arrive after rate cuts and even negative rates are insufficient to revive the economy.

How would you deal with poverty in America?

Work for welfare unless you qualify for disability. If you're going to accept welfare then you're going to wear the orange vest and perform the work out in the public eye for a few hours a day because nobody rides for free.

Speaking of stipends for existing, when do those Alaska socialists/libertarians get cut off?
