MiniSim will be a better groveler. Really makes any session fun no matter how small/weak because it feels so different from other designs. I don't ride my 5'3" Hank Warner often, but when I do, I always catch a ton of waves and have a blast.

I was leaning that way. Probably gonna try one out this summer.
cheers

+1 on GMM2 as an HP groveler.
Also, Mandala SuperChunk or ASQ would be good options, though more cruisey.

Yep - i agree with Pete. I have a 5'0 mini sim quad - super flat rocker - nice and thick and stringerless. Hands down best grovellor i've owned. Been in my quiver for nearly ten years. Much better than the fish i've owned. Works from ankle to chest high.

Just get a Flying Manta and be done with it. Part mini sim part fish. It's not even exciting to me anymore but it just does the job so well in tiny surf.

On another note, just ordered a VLAD model from Roberts for summer's "better" days.

I love the Bean Bag when it's flat-faced and soft and slowly-forming. Does well in the seabreeze too with the flat/belly/vee whatever is going on.

If your summer waves are small but sort of jack up quickly and are steep for a knee high wave, I'd pick a concave bottom board.

What type of grovelling are you planning on doing?

Tiny - Shoulder high with good form: Go with a manta. The wave must have decent form/push, but that board is pure magic in the small stuff.

When you need more foam and the waves are more rolly and barely breaking go with a Mini Sim. Mine is almost two mantas stacked on top of one another. For days when only a thicker board will let you in.

Waist high - shoulder high with some pockets that the flat rocker of the Manta wont fit into: Go fling
