Sounds like she called for 50% of all execs' bonuses with the funds to go to the "lowest paid" workers. Approximately 20,000 of them. With total exec bonuses $62m last year (for just the top 6 guys), that means at least $31m / 20,0000 = $1550 per person. It's not a ton of money, but it would mean a lot to someone living paycheck to paycheck. shrug

Yes, that's where things start to make some sense. My point was that $400 or even $1500 is not the margin between minimum wage and a living wage.

I know about my own 401k and that's what makes it feel even dirtier. Who knows what my County of SD pension is invested. shrug roflmao but yeah, a little less hoarding/slushfunding of corporate profits would be nice. Had a boss at one company who I made a ton of extra money for and he gave me a $200 bonus I think along with a regifted Olive Garden gift certificate. I was so gone after that. roflmao Gotta say that current company I am at is not stingy.

Yeah, I would leave an upper deck in the executive washroom if I got treated like that toilet Pensions are reliant on the stock market and other investment tools such as land trusts, bonds, etc. Which is why pensions should largely be done away with.

I left and then found out shortly after that most of the upper management bailed out, leaving them in dire straits. I used that inside knowledge to leverage my way back at a 30% salary increase at a large title promotion. And then bailed again once I had the salary history/promotional history established. A bit of a sacrifice (since it involved a brutal commute) but it worked out quite favorably in the long run. roflmao

Pensions can be done away with once I get mine going. wink2 The only question is whether I start cashing mine in by time I am 50 vs. 55. I felt very stagnant while working in public sector and the money wasn't as good but hindsight, I would be retiring in 10 years. Now? Ugh. foreheadslap

Nothing wrong with cashing in a pension if you can beer

You made the math more important than the concept. I don’t work for Disney so I didn’t have the numbers in front of me. I apologize for wading into the numbers.

I only have 5 years worth as I only stayed just long enough to get vested. Not a huge amount but better than nothing. smile2

Wife going back to work in fall. Will be so nice to have that second income again. Will max the hell out of 401ks and build up kids college funds. I have every intention of being retired by the time they're out of school. Whether that intention reflects reality is a different story. roflmao
