Not sure if I'm alone in saying this, but while there are many different boards from many different board builders I want to try, I have no desire to try a dan mann slater board.

Me too.

I do like watching and critiquing this kind of stuff. This seems to be the closest to how he was surfing on the CI boards since he left. I actually think it's funny that average joe's want what the pros ride.

It will be really interesting to see how he does this year on tour. He does plan to compete right? Is there a draw out for snapper yet?

If the waves are good I think he has a fair chance at doing well. If not he's going to get crushed.

that's what I was thinking too. Looks like CI boards he was riding & winning world titles on, except shorter shrug

His rubbles and semipros were the same length as the Mann.

Not sure if Im alone in saying this but Kellys designs have always worked well for me (except the 90s boards).

thought he was riding a little more length in his golden era shrug so he's back to riding basically his CI boards when he was winning heats? about time

Are you talking about when he was surfing switch, frontside on the left, or did you honestly think Chas's right and Dan's right on his natural frontside were comparable?

I said I couldn't surf it but if people need to apologize to Chas, then Chris Cote needs some wildcards and an Eddie invite

From December 2011:

Yon a five nine? What are the complete dimensions, including the beak and the stern, and the bottom shape? Dont know all the dims offhand. Maybe 12″ nose, 18 3/8″ width, 14 1/4″ at the stern and, yep, a 59″. Single-to-double concave, I believe.

http://www.cisurfboards.com/2011/kelly-slater-talks-the-fred-rubble/#

Obviously the rocker and curves of FRK are going to be different but the dims are pretty comparable.

FRK:
5' 09" 18 3/8" 2 3/8" 25.6 L

You will not catch this 47 year old riding something that narrow and low volume any time soon. Add about an inch of width and 3 liters of volume and we'll talk, They need some "bro" dims.

Kelly already pulled out of the QS he was entered into. It seems like he was all gung ho on competing this year to get one of the top spots as a US surfer so he'd qualify for the olympics. Then it came out that there's no way they will use KSwaveco for the olympics and he doesn't care as much about competing anymore.

That's just my take on it though.
