First time I met Rusty he was getting G-10 fins for his personal boards and friends , Charlie Walker introduced me to him when my shop was next to Eric's .

He said he paid 110.00 a set for them , so no bro deal even for the big guy drowning

They were super nice

Nice. Who was making the fins back then, do you remember?

I remember Rusty's EPS boards in that time frame. I was just surprised to see G10 fins on boards that light.

I was running the Reef Board Build-Off at this time, and that was the board Rusty entered into the second one we held, which was at the old ASR show.

When I picked it up he said, 'I want this one back', and he ended up being the highest bidder on his own board.

He was working with Wes Lakey at the time, on these builds, who I met at the show, and then found out Wes lives in my 'hood and we've crossed paths many time since then at kids activities, social events, etc.

Good times and great memories!

cheers

Cool! Who's Wes lakey and was/is he involved in?

Haven't seen Wes in awhile, so not sure if he's still at it, but he was doing board construction under 'EVF' - Epoxy Vacuum Fusion.

I remember some not so flattering posts on here and on Swaylocks, so who knows. cheers
