And heck I may as well tack on 3 extra nights after our 7 days on Tavarua to explore and hang out on the main island. That will be memeoral day weekend. 12 day vacation for only 7 vacation days. May 18-29. No brainer.

when we went, i was on the boat every morning at the crack of dawn and back by the time the wife and kids were eating breakfast, then all sorts of fun things to do, snorkle, fish, paddle board around the island, push the wife into waves at kiddy land, run out to the sand bar for a picnic, run across to namotu, rent a helicopter for an hour and tour the islands (baller like you should do this), hang out with the Fijian people and realize they are the kindest people you may ever meet, eat like a champ Xno drinks for you , drink kava on Fiji night (don't forget to bring a bunch of Kava leaves for the chief) and then hang out with the fijians playing guitar, singing, and drinking more kava behind the restaurant until late into the evening. play ping pong for high stakes, get a massage, walk around the island, try to become friends with Roseman, get barreled, get worked, meet the doctor and get your feet put back together, get tricked by the staff with all sorts of pranks, go up on the observation deck in the middle of the night and ___ you know.. watch sea turtles lay eggs, watch the male staff freak out when a huge sea snake comes up on the deck and then one of the ladies comes and grabs it and throws it back out to sea, have a friend propose to his wife and then get married by a neighboring islands chief/ priest two days later and all the women sing the most beautiful songs you've ever heard, party party party, surf surf surf and then be sad when the last day comes and realize you may never be back there again....
p.s. if you need a guide i'm available...

Just when I had convinced myself that spartan, simple trips are all I needed in this life of mine.......

full disclosure, simple trips is the norm for the b.r. clan and especially for b.r. solo trips,
but our trip to Tavarua was paid for a by a guy in town who had done very well$ and rented out a week for 8 years or so and invited about 14 families once a year and took over the entire island. He mixed the group with family friends, his kids coaches families, his kids teachers families and friends of his kids, etc. it was weird to be the recipient of such a generous gesture but a lot of my friends had gone over previous years and I knew the guy and his dad and our kids were friends so off we went. back in the day i could spend a year in Costa Rica on what our room tab was for the week(covered our restaurant tab and incidentals), but i must say it is an incredible place. we had the bonus factor of being on the island with mainly wives and kids and not a lot of surfers, late season too so we only saw non tavarua guests surfing out there a couple times.
granted it wasn't going off but be careful what you wish for. btw small tavarua is a blast, medium sized awesome, and it is a big playing field so you can pick you section of reef and wait.
damn, i'm buying a lotto ticket tomorrow, gonna meet you guys out there! yewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Sounds like that ddue Sean from north county who would take all kinds of people. I was there one year when his party trip came down. pretty wild bunch. the opposite of the family trip. Met some great people on his trip though. stoked they could get down there on his dime.

surf and enjoy

May is a good month, probably the best.

take big boards if you want a piece of 10ft CB.

get in shape, CB dishes out punishment like few other waves.

61; 64, and a 69 semi. All pretty high volume thrusters. The 69 is a battleship that punches above its weight class. If cloud break gets too big for that Board I would probably be surfing restaurants lol

"Handy in a pinch when you can't get a slot at your local studio"

quite a few innuendos in there. This is the erBB after all.

lol

I guess the innuendos were sort of intentional, but for that exact sentence i really was just making a joke about her being able to teach yoga if your usual class is full
