To many people in many parts of the country it is.

You're out of touch with the reality of working class people in the majority of the country..

With the cost of everything rising and wage stagnation, this $1090 is a wash. And no, I'm definitely not out of touch. I'm a wage earner in a middle class bracket, albeit with a few investments.

I work hard for everything I have.

I'd love to have the extra $1090 in my bank account right now but I think everyone can acknowledge that this economy, which is not as great as the Trumbies are saying it is, doesn't allow for much savings.

Knowing you live in CA, you can blame the Demo taxlords for the "gasoline is out of control" tax rape in our once glorious state.

Step outside of CA and you'll see many states paying almost HALF the amount for gasoline.

And don't fret, even more new gasoline taxes coming in July for Calitaxia, and more increases in the coming next few years.

You voted for it, so take it and like it. dancing

Ummm.... NO.

It's an extra $1,000 fooking dollars. To the vast majority of this country that's still a lot of money.

Bullshit. Gas is going up, up, up everywhere. Of course California is more, duh, but we’re in GWB territory now. Thanks Republicans. Own it.

This is exactly what your ilk wanted. There's people on this very erBB who like to screech about social engineering the price of gas to drive people away from cars into communist-style block apartments

You are truly living in a bubble of delusion, unfortunately like many in CA. CA is paying more than Hawaii, which almost NEVER happens, but with our ever increasing taxes on it, it's happening more and more frequently.

https://gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/

In fact, most red states are paying the least for gasoline.

But most progressive Dems WANT gasoline prices to skyrocket to $10.00 a gallon. It's the only way alternate energy sources can compete. They don't care about the poor having to pay it, as long as it supports the New Green loogy agenda. barf

When was the last time gasoline prices didn't jump in the spring when big government mandates that the refineries change their blends?

$10-$15 per paycheck? Do you think people really noticed that?

I'll reiterate.

A large part of the country - mostly the areas of the country filled with people you despise - still has a median household income of less than $50,000/year.

In many of these areas cost of living is significantly lower when compared with places like New Jersey.

To these people $10-$15 a paycheck (where did you get that figure? thought - I would estimate many of these people are not paying any income taxes) is noticed.

According to official numbers smile2:

With the new tax cut the average person is making an extra $20/week (or an extra $40/paycheck) (or an extra $1090/yr).

In many areas of the country that's a 1 or 2 months rent.

If you don't think people feel that let's pull the tax cut next year, effectively pulling $1090 from their yearly income. No biggie right?

There's no mythos.

Billionaires are generally not well people.

They are workaholics.

Many are working weekends and vacations.

High levels of stress means low amounts of sleep.

Their life is work even moreso since the smartphone came into existence.

Other high income earners like CEOs of large companies are generally doing 60-70 hours a week.

These are people driven to work. They give fvckall about most of the people around them and care more about working than anything else. I don't envy them.

But of course that's not the topic of this thread.

hal, here's a question for you.

Since you say $1090 isn't felt...

Do you think most of the USA would give the OK to taking a $1090 pay cut?

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

https://news.gallup.com/poll/248681/tax-day-update-americans-not-seeing-tax-cut-benefit.aspx

If people didn't notice a $1090 tax cut, guarantee they won't notice a hike on the top .1% or a serious reduction in DoD spending.

So let's see.

Based on Shark and hal's articles:

Majority of Americans got a tax cut averaging $1090.
Majority of Americans think they didn't get a tax cut... despite getting a tax cut.
Majority of Americans disapprove of the tax cut.

Hmm.... roflmao

Additional questions unanswered by the Gallup piece (when was that poll conducted???):

Of those polled, why do they believe they're not getting a tax cut?
Of those polled that disapproved, how many had filed their income taxes?
Of those polled that disapproved, how many had compared this year's refund to last year's refund?
Of those polled that disapproved, would they approve of an extra $1000 in their pocket?

We could get so much additional insight from the above.

Is it possible blatant negative framing in the media is perhaps the reason why many disapprove? The fact that for the past year the framing has been has been everyone is going to be paying much more?

Something doesn't add up here lol.
