A friend just got back and said he felt safe. I hope he's right because I'll be down there with the GF mid-February.

It's pretty quiet right now with not a lot of people - so lineups are empty. We're in the middle of the off-season down here which means chest high surf with strong offshores (30mph) probably til early March. Although a couple years ago - there was a pretty good swell in mid February - so you never know.

yep - a few to be had during the right conditions. Colorado's is not really working this time of year. PD's has been the spot - as it is like Lowers in the way it picks up swell from any direction. Last October there was a significant storm - that moved a ton of sand off the beach and deposited it inside of the reef and set up some really fun sand bars at high tide. We need a good rain to get the river flowing for the sand bars at Colorado's to get setup properly.

-manbearpig - it's funny today we had a little bump in swell today - head high. I just got back from SoCal picking up a couple of Barry Snyder mid-lengths. i was just trying out one of em - a 7'2" Shambala model - 2nd wave - set wave going left - maybe a couple feet above head high - pulled in and got properly covered - felt good and hopefully a little taste of what will be a regular occurrence in a couple months.

Whats the earliest everything aligns for consistent barreling beachies? My main travel timeframe is Jan-March.

Typically - things get started around mid-March but the season doesn't kick off til April. Summer months are most consistent for the beachies.
