Anyone ridden one of these? Planshape reminds me of a Flare. Thinking of ordering one as a round tail in XTR in a few months for the summer.

I've never ridden a Sharpeye but they're on the short list, especially since they are offered in XTR.

Disco Cheater looks good and I agree the outline looks similar to Stamps Flare. Stock dims and volumes are pretty close as well. I have a round tail Flare and it's epic.

Get one and let us know!

One of my sons has one. He surfs very well on it. He surfs very well on anything though. His is PU/PE. Its a great groveller for soft waves up to shoulder high. For SanDiego I'd probably go with a regular Disco for my small wave board unless I was building a 3 board or more quiver. Since you're right there, stop in and talk to Marcio. He won't steer you wrong.

I have the plain Disco in PU
Love it. Its probably my most standard shortboard like small wave board.

right on guys. yeah up to head high soft waves is what I have in mind. Stubbier/wider normal shapes work better for me in small waves than fish or mini simmons.

Funny enough, one of my goals nowadays is to keep myself limited to a 3-4 board quiver to avoid paralysis by analysis with too many board choices - 1 Small wave, 1 DD, 1 Bigger wave.
Not really charging 2OH tubes if I'm honest with myself and my abilities anyways. Thinking the Disco Cheater could replace a CI Rocket Wide which has been my go to small wave board.

Never understood a pin tail shortboard for small waves, but maybe it's just me.

I was talking to a guy (competent surfer) about the Modern 2 he was riding a little while ago when it first came out. I asked how he liked it and he said he was having a tough time with it in weaker waves. Said it definitely needed some push to go......more than he would of thought for something considered a small wave board. Looks like both the Modern 2 and 2.5 have the same rocker.

I haven't tried one personally, but that was his opinion.

Right on, that make sense. All the Sharpeyes I've felt have had a healthy amount of rocker, even their "small wave" models. Guess so on flatter waves you'll probably have to work harder to get up speed, but if for some reason the size jacks up unexpectedly, it'll be alright.

Small waves to someone from San Diego means something different than someone on the East Coast. The Cheater is a great East Coast small wave board. That 2.5 looks to me like it needs at least a chest to shoulder high wave.
