Going to try and get to 175, then put a few pounds back in muscle.

Why lose weight to gain weight?

When you're in a caloric deficit you lose both fat and muscle. This is regardless of physical activity or muscular stress.

When you are in a caloric surplus you gain fat and muscle. This is regardless of physical activity or muscular stress.

When you throw the kitchen sink at either, what do you do in six weeks when it stops working.

Read up on "Medium Effective Dose". Make a small change from your current median and see what the resultant change is. It could be as simple as removing a single staple from your diet or adding additional physical stress to your daily routine.

If you goal is to become stronger with lower body fat, set a reasonable goal, make a couple changes, observe and correct. Swinging back from one to the other generally isn't healthy or has lasting effects.

I gained 5 pounds over my 3 week vacation.

Not bad considering half was away from home and we were hitting the wine hard.

Since I lost 4 over thanksgiving, I'm up one pound during a time I'm usually up 10 or even 15.

Down 5 pounds to 180. No booze and lots of walking. Could get lower if I gave up cookies and ice cream every night before bed, but f that.
