Silly Question (sure it has been asked before):

If I have five Future Fin boxes and only use a thruster set up how does the two empty fin boxes effect the board? I'm guessing a little weight but what about water flow? Is it so small that an average surfer will never feel a difference?

You can cover them up with 1 layer of packing tape .

This is what I do, on boards that I have dialed in the fins.
IMHO, it keeps sand and salt out of the screw and box.

When I bought a 5 box board and a set of 5 fins the shop guy threw in 2 blank plugs (or whatever they're called) for free. They go in whichever boxes you're not using and make it smooth. Taking them in and out is just like swapping fins. I've been using the board as a thruster or quad in different conditions. I'm barely a good enough surfer to feel the difference between the 3 or 4 fins so I probably couldn't tell if I left the boxes open but I like the idea.

I think Tomo is with firewire for more than just money. He helped them developed the LFT tech. I think he sincerely believes in the tech -deforest

I think the USA "made in america" board builders "marketing" gimmick falls more inline with a cult than the firewire following -deforest

When I get customs with a 5 fin setup I get the thruster boxes in Futures and the quad rears in FCS.

It is always funny when people talk about how 1/8 inch of a rocker difference can throw off a boards feels but think that two gaping holes have zero effect.

OP get Future fin box fillers. They work great.

Kelly should commission a study on this at his wave pool.

My board has five glassed-on fins. It works well.

I get all my boards with 5 boxes. I ride them as quads 95% of the time, and have never been able to feel that empty box. I get 5 boxes because for the extra $20, it makes them WAY easier to sell (and easier to get a better price) if you have to.
