Also, any idea what lost models might perform similar to these? just in case i can't find an OTR in my size (Looking for a quick pickup to replace a snapped board).

I'm a JS diehard, pretty much all I ride.. Had both the Bb2 and Monsta Box - I don't usually go for anything too short or wide but really enjoyed the Blak Box 2 as more of a small wave option to mix things up. Monsta Box however is one of my favourites of all time - you can get that little bit more performance out of em and surf like a shortboard, and it just goes in everything. Can't recommend one enough, especially in HYFI for small to medium waves. Let us know how ya go!

I've got a bb2 and I really like mine. Surprised at how well it goes in smaller stuff but does have its limitations in bigger waves too. Would liken it to a baby buggy but that had better performance in bigger surf but it all Comes down to how U size them. Both great boards but think the classing on the js is the best in the business if done in oz can't speak for overseas production . I recon depending on if u have a groveler then maybe just a monsta box could be enough. Or if u buy two then perhaps a bb2 and a monsta 6?

another vote for the monsta box. great so cal board.

The bbw is a little too fat and wide for my tastes... Fun once in a while but not something you'd want to ride every day.

I think the blak box 2 round makes for an epic all arounder. Remember where this board was designed. Guys are riding this board in head high or even slightly bigger snapper.

I had a squash version that I used in north county SD. It works best in the mushier reefs and points and is much less of a beach break board for me here in SD but to be fair I didnt have it out in beachies

One thing to remember about Aussie boards is that even the most grovel models have built in performance. Their waves are much steeper than ours even at small sizes so they tend to work as all around socal boards up to 6ft

Im looking at getting a hyfi bb2 to use as a one board quiver type thing (and I have a log) either this or a sci if or omni maybe even then holy grail haydenshapes

Not had a hyfi tech before but tried loads of fw

Its for waist high to head high, little bigger on occasion but mainly less than perfect with a bit of chop

Any recommendations? Cheers

Sold my BB2 for the reasons listed here. Probably would have been better paired with the Monsta-Box but it wasnt released for another year.

Did the bottom end really well but the second I was on a good one it had an over volumed feel I hated. Felt like I was wasting the good ones to have fun on very mediocre ones. Ended up regretting not having better equipment for the good ones.

Been way happier with the replacements (lost sub scorcher 2, grinderX)
