Great rehab device.

So fun on flat. Safe too. RG, you could do it if you just went on the a flat street with no debris. I padded up at first but now I just go and I'm really careful and take it easy.

I was imagining the street as being a wave and carving the sh1t out of it. It felt so good.

Carving without leaking off any energy, where it all goes into generating speed in your turns feels great.

& just how much will this gd setup set me back?

255 for mine.

But FF found a used one online for 175 on CL in Oceanside five minutes after I ordered mine, just to spite me.

Love love love!

Loving my t. Knox. No pads and I've gribbled a few times. No Ollie's for me especially with these trucks, fun as hell on flatland and I just started sliding them at the end of a good carve. Anyone try skating walls or a bowl?

i'm hitting the bowls with my T. knox, had to tighten everything up a bit but feels amazing, so much flowier than a normal skate, backhand carving whips through the deep ends are my favourite, the ultra looseness just eats up the transitions and hips.
weird not having to lift your wheels up high on the walls, just lean it in and wait and round it goes, trippy feeling.

not got to grinds yet but that's next.

can't ride my standard skateboard anymore though, feels so stiff i ate crap constantly at the weekend trying it.

this guy has some smoothness going on in the bowl on a carver,

and this nice little park vid,

Which board should I get? I'm 6'0 but have a narrow stance. 5'11 is my Daily driver. I've looked at the Carver Board Selector but it gives me quite a range. Want the CX trucks.

Thanks Sozxle. Vids were there til I hit play and they disappeared. I'm gonna try tightening the trucks for a different feel. Have you tried the cx trucks?

haha yeh i know that one, set my other deck up as loose as i can run it without terminal wheelbite and it still feels unskateable after riding the carver in the bowls, just the way everything conforms to the curves underfoot is a world away from a loosely setup 'traditional' board.

i added the links for the vids in that post.

i'm riding the c7's, i had to tighten them down a bit from how i was riding them out on the flats/banks for the bowls, just felt like a was loosing some power through the pumps with them ultra loose, i want to gradually loosen em back out though as i get more used to it.
really want to try the cx trucks too.

Watch out with those carver trucks. If you tighten them too far you can snap a part inside and then they will go all wonky on you. This could be a problem! You can't tell how far is too far either. Maybe they improved them over last few years by adding a stop where you cant over tighten them but mine broke inside after snugging them up to try a different feel about 4 years ago.

i've only gone a couple of turns front and back, can't see it doing any damage with a 150lb'er onboard.
to be fair, if i thought i'd be hairing around bowls on it i probably would've gone for the CX's.

quick question: was looking at one of these for a christmas gift (people keep asking me what I want, and I don't 'want' anything.. but this looks kinda cool and useful)

how much am I going to eat sh!t on the pavement trying to dial this thing in? i'm not a skater (can cruise around just fine but absolutely NO on tricks unless i want to crash or sprain an ankle). size tips would be helpful too, as i'm 6'4", lanky, and 210lbs.

much appreciated.

I like the gloves. They are needed in the aquatic deeds of perversion that he partakes in.

I own a couple carver setups, both pretty custom.

Setup 1: Daily three-block commuter from parking garage to office/surf trainer:

Setup 2: Bowl rider
normal, but wider and directional deck for ripping bowls, or taking on business trips
  • Trucks: Carver CXs, 1.5 years old
  • Wheels: 62mm very hard wheels that don't release well. I don't like them, but the size is nice
  • Deck: John Cardiel signature Antihero All-Star board (i love this deck)

I love my carver trucks. I bring my short skate setup with me on trips and usually ride through airports on it (I always swap my hard wheels for silent, grippy ones). Pics upon request.

If you are talking Carver "wiggle board" then I don't know but if you are talking real LDP then this setup would be the one! Stiffer rear truck option for your weight. Expensive yes, but worth it. (If you have the infrastructure to enjoy it)

Learning curve to get to the first rung of ladder was about 1/2 hour of riding time. Find a slightly downhill run and build your speed or a perfectly flat run with some wind at your back.

Then your technique will improve over the next 1o miles or so ridden, after about 20 miles you are the master

The new video on Surflie with Ricky Shaffer is horrible. Not a fan of Proctor, nor of Ricky being out while other people are surfing. Wave hog. Jazz hands, and just, meh.
Ricky is a nice enough guy, on land. Not in the water.
