I can't recommend him enough; an absolute pleasure to deal with. He obviously knows what he's talking about, and has a very good way of communicating.

All aspects of the design are discussed, and he sends you the file so that you can check all dims; this is an iterative process. I was keen on a 5-fin option and a little extra paddling foam, so he widened the tail (and therefore also the nose) slightly and put extra meat down the centre of the board while keeping the rails thin.

He was careful to add that some find swallows too stiff, and that the pronounced tail rocker (2 7/8"!) balanced that. Music to my ears, as I was after drive and hold, plus the easier entry into large, hollow waves afforded by the rocker.

We agreed that with the hold of the thin swallow would allow you to use slightly smaller fins, so med AMs were the call.

The board feels sleek, but has float and paddle power. I very different feel just sitting on it or paddling around the lineup. Not corky, but still substantial, if you get my drift.

Bulkley TubeRaider 7'4" on far left, Slab Monster 6'7", Slab Monster 6'2". I've ridden the TubeRaider a couple times in OH conditions - absolutely loved it.

Just wanted to sing the praise of this board, and Murray Bourton, once more.

I don't surf this board often - maybe 10 or 15 times a year - but when I do, it's special.

While it's made for clean Indo waves, I surfed it today in very solid 30kt onshore beach break. A narrow bay, which somehow turns absolute howling onshore dog shit into the odd gem.

Undergunned at times, but the feeling of knifing into a large wave on this board is incredible. For the size of waves, I should have been on my 6'10 Desert Storm, but a lot of duckdiving ruled it out.

Pinched rails, lots of tail rocker, conservative entry.

Christened at very bloody solid Lennox Head on Marvellous Monday 6 June. This thing is a race horse: knifey, precise, very positive; don't think I've ever gone faster, but then the waves were unreal...

The G is 61 18 3/4 2 3/8 and the Lynch is 64 18 3/4 2 3/8. The Roberts has been a staple in my quiver for a long time now, difference from previous board is this one has slightly more volume and 5 fin. The lynch was a Craigslist score and pretty damn bullet proof with lockbox fins. Havent gotten to ride this version of the Roberts (that hopefully changes tomorrow) and the lynch I had a good solo session on it at a pretty solid outer bar, but should be even better with more suitable fins I attained since then thanks to a generous errber.
