I'm rereading this.

If you like Theroux's travel writing you might like this.

Different than Theroux but still good.

Really fascinating about psychedelics and the human mind.

After finishing "Drugs without the hot air" by David Nutt this was a good follow up.

I liked that Michael Pollan book. Funny though I think I like reading about Pyschadelics more than actually taking them. I listen to Sam Harris podcast a lot and he's always got some interesting takes on that stuff. I think he had Michael Pollan on talking about that book in fact.

I'm about halfway through "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker.

Super interesting read that I think most people would benefit from reading. So far my basic takeaway is that getting more sleep is the single most important thing that we can do to improve our health both mentally and physically and most of us aren't getting enough.

It's easily one of the most fascinating books I've read in a long time.

In my defense, I took ritalin and did high cognitive strain book work all day.

Lazy people on speed who do hard work get tired!

Whenever my students tell me they are on Ritalin, I say #metoo!

And we bond, two ADD retards.

Then I say, "Do you snort it?"

Thanks for whoever suggested East of Eden. Awesome! Reading Fall now. About 1/3 through it but not on vacation so I'm consuming it a bit more slowly.

My uncle Brice came home from WWII and worked on Cannery Row. American Can Company. He was their rep. after the war. He ended up down in Mexico. A senior VP. supplying cans to the Mexican breweries.

Read it multiple times along with Tortilla Flats, Sweet Thursday, Of Mice And Men and Travels with Charley. Grapes of Wrath is next. Steinbeck is a national treasure.
