I've started to go here a lot more often lately, just wondering what everyone else who's been there thinks of it. It's been a really fun wave so far. The only bad part is (and this sounds wussy, I know) I can't help but wonder if it's at all sharky. Warranted?

I love it cause it's always warm, never windy, no shark risk, no good food, and it's right off the 101.

That place is really special to me. Last time was with my family on the way to the inlaws for Thanskgiving. Storm front pushin in. Surfed for an hour and a half in 55 degree water getting fun peaks almost to myself while there was a thick crowd at the main spot and it didn't look that great. Finished it off with a Jalama burger (my son's first ) as the rain started to pour.

Wish I was closer... maybe. Used to have a love hate relationship with the place.

Just got home from three days surfing/two nights camping
somewhere similiar.

In early February.

Absolutely perfect conditions, beautiful weather.

Empty.

Don't forget those bastard squirrels! Those lil f*ckers ate my burger one day! They are probably better fed than most humans!

There was a fatal attack on a booger at Surf beach last year. It's just a short drive from Jalama. So yes, there are sharks nearby.

Less than 2 years ago I had a pretty bad scare while surfing V. Base. 15+ shadow. No joke. I haven't surfed near that area since.

I love Jalama! Forgot my wetsuit on a lunch table and drove home to Gaviota, oops, drove back and it was right where I left it. Have gotten many good waves there and never even thought about sharks!

It's all in good fun.
