They're looking pretty haggard there Q. Your stank wetsuit juice is clearly taking a toll.

Baby I'd follow you anywhere. Across the ocean, past the jaws of hungry mammals, up the wild river. I'd even follow you through stank surfer booty soup.

The tragic, disgusting love story of anadromous fish.

Went backpacking out in Joshua Tree this weekend and took some pics with my phone...didn't want the extra weight of a camera.

Bad day for this tarantula...saw this out on the trail last week. Badass!

From wiki: The female tarantula hawk wasp stings and paralyzes a tarantula, then drags the specimen to a specially prepared brooding nest, where a single egg is laid on the spiders abdomen, and the entrance is covered. Sex of the larvae is determined by fertilization; fertilized eggs produce females while unfertilized eggs produce males. When the wasp larva hatches, it creates a small hole in the spider's abdomen, then enters and feeds voraciously, avoiding vital organs for as long as possible to keep the spider alive. After several weeks, the larva pupates. Finally, the wasp becomes an adult, and emerges from the spider's abdomen to continue the life cycle. barf

In front of my home is a small traffic island.

A few weeks ago, I saw a woodpecker bouncing all over the place, then another, then a third, reasonably close together...I think it was a migrating family.

Snuck outside and hid behind a few cars, stalking them. Sadly the camera whirring open scared off mom and junior, but dad hung around.

Red-shafted northern flicker...we see them during the spring flyover.

Best two:
