I always wondered if Biolos was knocking Album in references to Asym and some shapers just blindly trying things.

Make what is agreed upon and give a relatively accurate estimate of when it will be done. It’s 2019.

Yet nother thread where people who complain about low profit margins in surfboard sales are now complaining about a guy charging high prices.

Where?

I'm asking because he seemed to come out of nowhere.

I tried to find out info about his shaping career but I don't see anything on the Google about Album Surfboards prior to 2014.

I had an Album board as early as 09

I went to his marketing office and ordered it in person when I was down here visiting. He met me on a Saturday. He then shipped it up to Santa Cruz. It was a great board.

His Ledge model is one that will live in my quiver forever

That's exactly what I thought reading Matt Biolos' discourse on his Maysym.

I've had my eye on several Albums, but paying 2x what I usually pay for a board isn't that motivating. They do have their aesthetic/marketing down. There are numerous Albums hanging on the walls in the Ritz Carlton above Salt Creek. My wife and I sneak into the pool there with friends sometimes and we were all commenting how nice looking the sprays/tints/resin works were.

This forum is always funny. Seems like this guy has run his business exactly how MANY on here say surfboard businesses should be run - charge a price that allows a living wage/successful business, improve marketing, improve biz operations (includes turnaround time, communication, website etc. I have not ordered an album - but everyone I know who has comments that these things stand out with his co.), have pros ripping on them (I don't think geiselman and kerr are just riding them for the pretty resin tints?), have avg joes digging them. Oh yeah, and several erBBers have said he surfs often/well at his local breaks.

I dunno. Perhaps bitter mayhem should take a few pages out of this guy's book instead of continuing to run a giant shitshow of a custom board operation (going on three decades now!)

Well said Daave. I don't yet have an opinion on Album boards in a real way but he responded personally to my questions within a few hours of shooting him an email. He's charging a premium price for PU/PE boards but he's got his niche and he's not having boards shaped overseas as far as I know so I can't really find fault.

Mayhem is such a hater it's hilarious.

I’m usually in a surfboard buying mood after a few beers as well!

Ended up ordering another stamps after a pretty boozy evening.
