Not 100% sure of max fuel/mileage, but I believe you can wear a fuel pack on your back, and if you lean out far enough, get up to almost 100 mph.

I watched a demo video a couple years ago, and he was flying around for at least 8-10 minutes.

This video is 2 years old, so I would imagine advances are already made since. Cojo is 10 miles or so, so I would imagine you could make it to most spots out there and back. Might need an extra fuel backpack for the farthest out trip and back?

Local Ranch owners would be pissed, no doubt.

If you used it just to get to a single location and back, no farting around, the miles you could cover would be significant, even on one pack of fuel, it seems? Needs a few logistics worked out, but this is just the beginning of personal hovercraft.

Those could do it. But it sounds like a trip out to Cojo and back might be a challenge on battery charges. Might need a back-up battery pack and an anchor, or try leaving it on the beach? Same concern with a jet drone too.

Can you imagine seeing a fleet of those making their way into the Ranch on a good day? shocked2

Flying a jet drone would be just as crazy, but you'd get in and out much quicker. 20-30 years from now, who knows? socrazy

Easily beach launched with two guys. I have a 4' long 3/4" piece of galvanized metal pipe with an eye in the middle we attach to the bow eye...so two guys can pick up the bow and move it around when it's on it's transom wheels. It's key....as are some gnarly beach wheels. I wore out an old pair of Wheel-a-Weighs and now have a dually set-up that works good. Wide turf wheel/tires are the best way to go.... Can launch with the engine down....and can motor with the wheels down fast enough to deal with the launching and landing.

We used to launch a 15 ft valco in the surf at la jolla shores. Not bad going out. Coming in with near limits of yellowtail was sort of a different story. Young and dumb.

Looks like the inventor tried to cross the English Channel today.

He got halfway to a refueling boat, but it was a bit too rough/choppy to land safely on the boats landing/launch pad, so he had to ditch in the ocean next to the boat.

Like I mentioned earlier, work out a few kinks and logistics, and this personal craft could have potential?

I saw that rocket pack fly here in Yonkers, New York, at Cross County Shopping Center center around 1966. It was plug your ears loud, almost as loud as the Russian vertical takeoff airplanes I saw off the coast of Russia in the mid 80's. Those things brought new meaning to loud!

Looks like the jet hoverboard inventor made it across the English Channel today.

flying-frenchman-succeeds-bid-cross-english-channel-jet-powered-hoverboard

Still had to make a pit stop mid-way, but got a bigger boat for a more stable launch/landing pad, I guess?

I remember the Disney jet pack guy as a kid. Probably the same age as those kids watching in the video clip. Was a space age dream at the time. That big jet pack probably only had a couple minutes worth of fuel to just get thru a demo.

This French inventors hoverboard is faster and can go much farther by miles. Still, would be a challenge to your neighbors launching one from your driveway to work and back, but possible if a large area to launch and land at? Would be a trip of a lifetime to try.
